Aveta (Celtic for mother goddess) is a sweet female looking for some humans to love on all the time. Aveta was in a TX foster with her 5 puppies when she was attacked by 2 male dogs trying to get her puppies. She protected them but the fight somehow landed she and her five 'nursing' babies in a holding cell. Fortunately, one of our fosters showed up to take pictures of the dogs there, saw Aveta half-dead with her babies attempting to nurse. She took the babies home with her t...o get them the nutrition they needed and got Aveta to the hospital. After a month of recuperating in Texas, she and her babies (all adopted) made the trip up to NY. Aveta is very sweet, LOVES to snuggle, and LOVES humans. She's great with kids but we recommend children older than 3 due to her size. She's gentle and knows to sit for food. She's crate trained and housebroken ! While she is good with other dogs, due to the severe trauma she suffered from two dogs, it would HAVE to be the right personality match. She would need a confident but sweet/understanding, non-jealous, non-reactive dog. RHETT UPDATE!!! This poor guy is in VERY rough shape. He’s still hospitalized. Today’s update is, that the radiologist determined that Rhett’s condition ( other than Heartworm), is due to trauma. His pneumothorax ( air in the chest causing collapsed lung) became worse today and they needed to go in with a large needle to draw out the air. He is still in oxygen and is still very painful. Sadly, it was also discovered that Rhett seems to be blind from whatever trauma he suffer...ed. His lungs became so bad, because he was laying for God knows how long on one side of his chest :( Rhett is also very stressed and disoriented from trauma and losing his sight , which is very sad. We really hope he gains back his sight with time, which is common for head trauma. The good news is, that Rhett finally stood today and he is eating if he is hand fed. My heart just breaks for this poor boy. Today was a BIG day!!! The 4th dog off the transport van was SNARR’s 1000th dog rescued for 2020!!! YEP, YOU READ THAT RIGHT ... 1000!!!!!!! We couldn’t do any of this without the support of YOU, our amazing donors and followers !!! ... And guess who the special dog was ? Tank !!! This handsome meatball of a hunk was the perfect dog to celebrate, as he represents everything that SNARR is. Tank is considered a hospice dog due to mast cell tumors. Andrea here! This will be long so please please take the time to read this. My two very special fosters. Noelia (the black one) has an incredible story. She was found dying in a cemetery with her 5 babies. She came to me paralyzed with a spinal injury, erlicia and lyme positive having just given birth to 5 babies that passed away. She had surgery and is completely rehabbed, although she still has and will probably always have mild incontinence. She has been with me over a y...ear without a really perfect application for her. Jagger, has been with me since June. He had been hit by a car and had two shattered legs. He had surgeries and is also totally rehabbed. Noelia was a terrified soul when she got here. Almost feral. She was scared of everything. My alpha dog took her under her wing and she started coming out of her shell. When Jagger arrived something magical started happening. A playful side to Noelia is developing. A happy go lucky Noelia, not the dog with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Jagger is amazingly friendly and loves everyone. He is a heeler so needs to learn how to stop herding us. He loves every dog. Where as Noelia is more picky. She doesn’t trust right away or all. Seeing them together has brought out the very best in Noelia. My thought is....what if, just what if someone wanted to adopt them together? UPDATE FOSTER FOUND !!! FOSTER NEEDED FOR THIS STUNNING HUNK !!! Tank is arriving tomorrow to NY and needs a foster ( would love a long term foster but happy to have a short term place for him to go as well ). Tank is a super special boy and is wonderful with everyone including puppies and cats. He is extremely loving and has NO idea he is sick. He is considered hospice and has mast cell cancer. We are hoping to provide him treatment that will extend his life but he most likely has 6months - 1 year left. Please can anyone consider him ??? We can transport him within reasonable distance. Baby Barrett ( meaning Bear strength ) shocked us all and has made an amazing recovery !!! He is ready to go home to foster care today. I am usually rescuing animals from afar and not physically having my hands on them during their initial crisis; meeting them once they are already stable and better. Barrett was in such horrible condition; literally almost dead yesterday, and it was amazing to be able to witness the emergency team jump into action to save his life. And now today, I just came from visiting him and he is a totally different kitten!!! From what it seems, this was simply from starvation and hypothermia. Thank you to all those who donated to save Barrett!!! We cannot do this without your support.
