Two fun facts about Pet Sematary Director Mary Lambert: 1. Stephen King personally approved her as the director (more on that below). 2. She is also painter who lives part time in East Hampton and was featured in Paton Miller’s East End Collected at SAC! We know it’s scary, but we dare you to come watch the original Pet Sematary with us outdoors tomorrow, Saturday, 10/31 at 8 PM. What is Halloween all about if not being a little bit scared! We will have classic movie concessi...ons to snack on, if that helps. And if you come to The Nightmare Before Christmas beforehand at 6 PM you get two movies for the price of one - no charge for the second in true Double Feature form! LINK BELOW for more info and to sign up, or you can just come! Bring your own chairs, blankets, and jackets to keep toasty! Wanting the movie to be as faithful to the novel as possible, Stephen King was very hands-on with its production. A part of his contributions included insisting the film actually be shot in Maine, giving the story an authentic look. It was also up to King to get the final say on the film’s director. After meeting with Mary Lambert, King was so impressed with her knowledge of the source material that he gave her the green light to direct Pet Sematary without meeting any other directors. I loved the material and I think he knew that I respected it and didn’t want to change it or make it my own movie. You know, reimagine it as something that it wasn’t, Lambert explained in 2019. Film at SAC is sponsored by Brown Harris Stevens with additional support from Suffolk County. https://southamptonartscenter.org//freaky-friday-feature-/

But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.
