In response to the unfortunate comments made by one of our Elementary School PTA board members, who has already resigned, the NYS PTA has released the following statement. As a Council PTA, the South Country PTA Council is unit of the NYS PTA and shares this statement. NYS PTA Press Release: January 6, 2021 (Albany)- The mission, values, vision and beliefs of NYS PTA are clear: to support every child with one voice, to be the leading advocates for children, to make every c...hild’s potential a reality, and to be a powerful voice for all children. We believe in collaboration, commitment, accountability, respect, inclusivity, diversity, differences, and in integrity. NYS PTA has supported children, families and educators in NYS for the last 124 years. In those 124 years, and certainly today, there has been, and will continue to be, absolutely no place for hate, bias, or violence in PTA. NYS PTA continues to stand ready to support every child, with one voice: no matter their race, ethnicity, zip code, income, gender identity, sexual orientation, or immigration status. PTA will be there for them, for ALL, always. We understand that these are divisive times; however, all PTA leaders and members should believe in and remember our mission, values, vision and beliefs. We encourage our communities to do the same. We truly hope all will continue on this journey with us. Together, we will make every child’s potential a reality. There is no other more important work.

Equity in Education Committee Representatives Needed The district is looking for a diverse group of parents for the new Equity in Education committee. If you are interested in being considered please contact us immediately.

Give or take food pantry at South Country Library. If you wish to donate, please leave non-perishable, un-expired items in the collection bin. Residents in need of food may help themselves to the pantry shelf any time. Open 9:30 am to 9 pm weekdays and 9:30 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.

Thanksgiving Basket Donations Needed For many years, the Kreamer Steet PTA has supplied several of their families with a Thanksgiving Basket to help them celebrate the holiday. This year because of the generous donations already received, families in need at Brookhaven Elementary and Verne W. Critz will be included. There are two contactless drop off points (82 Bieselin Rd Bellport and 24 Haig Ave E Patchogue) and we can also collect.... Please open your heart and donate whatever you can. If you would like to make a monetary donation and have one of the PTA members shop for you, we can do that as well. Below is a suggested list of items that we need to supplement the baskets. Canned yams Cranberry sauce Gravy Canned pumpkin Canned mixed fruit Instant mashed potatoes Apple Sauce Apple Pie filling Mini-marshmallows Corn bread mix Medium sized frozen turkeys Stuffing Canned vegetables Pie crusts Thank you so much for your continued support!

The Board of Education approved Option 2 (minus Phase 8) of the Draft Reopening Phase-In plan. We thank the BOE and administration for their efforts to bring our children back to full time in-school learning while maximizing safety for both our children and staff.
