STH January 9, 2021 Update: Livin’ in a snow globe Quick update from STH is that things continue to improve on top of the hill. STH groomed Thursday night / Friday morning and will be grooming again tonight. The trails are ranging from fair to very good condition. The best snow coverage is the Camp 2/Camp 4 area. STH January 10, 2021 PM Update: STH had a busy weekend. We groomed Thursday night/Friday morning, completed some much-needed tree work behind @Barrows Performance, groomed again on Saturday in both Highmarket and C-Ville and today groomed C-Ville and West Leyden. Although we only have 4-5 of icy, crusty snow in placed other than Highmarket, the snow will make a great base. By panning and grooming this snow, we are filling in low spots and water holes with the hopes that it w...ill freeze solid. STH does not recommend riding in any areas other than Highmarket. Seasonable temps for this upcoming week with maybe a few chances of snow. No grooming is planned for the next few days unless we get some new snow. If riding in Highmarket this week, anticipate fair to good conditions. Your best riding today on our trails will be Highmarket and points north and west. Take it slow, watch for hazards, park and ride areas listed below for our trails, check with other clubs before riding. Parking Areas: -Barrows Performance -Smith Rd Parking Lot (end of Smith Rd. STH January 10 AM Update: STH sent one groomer out in Highmarket yesterday afternoon/night. The snow cover is thinning but is still OK in most areas around Highmarket. STH Friday January 8, 2021Update: STH Zoo STH is proud to announce that we have opened a zoo. STH has implemented a new program to increase rider enjoyment to our trail system. Please be on the look out for Benny the Bear and Marky the Moose as they like to follow the STH groomers when they are out working hard. If you see one of the animals on the trail, please stop and take a picture with them and tag us at #STHZOO. Every month during snowmobile season, STH will pick our fa...vorite photo and send the winner(s) a STH gift. All of the STH zoo animals are very friendly and love to have there picture taken. Last night/this morning STH groomed areas around Barrows Performance, Michigan Mills Rd. and Camp 4 Road. Trails are in fair to good condition in the Highmarket area ONLY. STH January 7, 2021 Update: KDK Thursday Ride Report STH members hit the trails in the Highmarket area today to install new maps on the trail kiosks. Started at Barrows Performance and headed west to the Camp 2/Camp 4 Intersection. Everything is in fair to good condition with icy areas except the trail behind Barrows. This trail needs snow and grooming, but we cannot groom it without adequate snow. Michigan Mills Rd. and Camp 2 have many low iced trees, beware as trees may fa...ll. The trail north from Barrows is very flat but is getting thin in places. A STH groomer will be out tonight doing what we can and cutting a few trees to improve rider safety.
