meet megan ockander: "i’m captain of team digestive cycles and we just completed our 2nd year participating in spin4 crohn’s & colitis cures! it’s so fun to enjoy an afternoon of exercise and be surrounded by the love and support of friends and family. i was diagnosed with crohn’s disease nearly 2 years ago and it’s changed my whole outlook on each day. from diet, exercise, mental health, the ups and downs of finding the right doctors and medications, and all the non digestiv...e symptoms i’ve experienced including joint pain, hair loss, and fatigue, i’ve had to learn to be more adaptable and I’ve found the value in true self-care. riding a spin bike has been a huge part of my journey to remission. i’ve learned that a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but there’s no room for growth there. with crohn's, i have to grow and change in order to move forward each day. with crohn's, every day is different for me, i never know what my body is going to decide to do, so being able to adapt, accept that there isn't a cure, and welcome growth in the day to day moments has helped me become stronger and learn to re-love this body i’ve been given." we are inspired daily by our patients who ride with us - they ride for themselves, and for others who may or may not be able to join them. thank you for your indomitable spirit, megan! learn more: https://bit.ly/388hpQ1 #power2cure #partyonabike

Your IBD story is the most powerful tool you have to make a difference in public policy. By sharing your personal experiences with your legislators, you put a face to the issues at hand and provide compelling evidence to encourage them to support specific legislation or issues, like the Safe Step Act and step therapy reform. We are collecting your stories about insurance-mandated step therapy to show why patients need access to the treatments they need when they need them. Check out our new advocacy stories site and email [email protected] to add your story to our site. https://bit.ly/2VzkW44 #CCAwarenessWeek #IBDVisible

There are a lot of reasons why raising awareness of IBD is so important, including increasing familiarity with symptoms to help get people diagnosed faster, breaking barriers to care, and combating the taboo of talking about poop. We asked you a few weeks ago why you think raising awareness is so important personally. We compiled some of the answers in our newest #IBDVisible blog post but also wanted to share one that really resonated for us: Raising IBD awareness is importa...nt to me because those of us in the IBD community need others to come alongside us, encourage us, and cheer us on. The more we come together, the easier it is to work through the challenging times and come out stronger than ever, and the more resources we can put towards our ultimate goal of finding a cure for IBD! Check out our blog post and let us know how you’ll be raising awareness this week in the comments below! https://bit.ly/2Vk8W6t #CCAwarenessWeek
