Sportsmen's Park 09.11.2020

I’m excited to be bringing a live solo stream to all my pals in Buffalo at the mighty Sportsmens’ Tavern, plus everyone else who wants to tune in. Today, Monday... 7/27, 7PM Eastern, that’s 4PM in CA, you fill in the blanks. Come enjoy the big screen and socially distant but unfailingly friendly vibe at the Tavern. Order tix at https://sportsmensbuffalo.com/, or buy ‘em at the door, or tune in on our Facebook pages if if you are too far away. Pic above doesn’t have much to do with tonight’s gig, but me and the Commander and the boys rode it into Buffalo many a time from 1970-75. See more

Gary Burke -- who did scoring for movies like "Tucker," was in The Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, and was with Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review -- if he's got an idea, you're damn well going to listen. You would be stupid not to. - Louie

Fellow Ameripolitan’s , you probably know by now we have lost a huge part of our musical family in the passing of James Hand. He opened every Ameripolitan Award... Show since it’s inception and was the perfect artist to do so. His musical integrity was unmatchable. His singing and writing were rooted in yesterday but undeniably original. He always had a new song he wrote that he’d like to sing to you and if you were lucky, he did. The world is not as bright today with his loss. The same dimness we had when Johnny, George and Merle passed , I can safely say fellow Ameripolitan’s feel. It was comforting to know we could go see Slim, as he was also known, on any week end in Texas but I’m sure there are many of us that regret the times we could’ve but didn’t. I’m one. I loved James Hand , the artist , the writer , the singer but I also loved the Man. Rest In Peace Slim, but I don’t know how you will when we are going to playing your records loud and proud for a long long long time. I miss you already my friend Sincerely, Dale Watson See more

Independent venues were the first to close, and they’ll be the last to reopen. I’m asking D.C. to provide NIVA - National Independent Venue Association with cri...tical funding so that our independent venues can survive this pandemic. You really have to know the blues to play rock and roll. And it's good to be playing and feeling that style of music and feeling and understanding that rock and roll was the blues years ago. It's just at the time they called it something different. - Louie
