Starlight artists are tuning in to the free online screening of WORK, directed by Mani Mehrvarz, featuring the music ensemble @woodencities sponsored by @artscollaboratory. We are saddened to hear of Kurt Von Voetsch’s passing. He shared a lot with Starlight Studio and we remember fondly his exhibit Chugger’s New Drawings in our Main Gallery in October 2014 curated by Bruce Bitmead. He will be truly missed. Kurt’s exhibit at Starlight included several large scale collages, constructed by piecing together many of his drawings. When he was hanging the show, Kurt told me if anyone would like to purchase one of these collages but could not afford... it, I should tear off a smaller portion and sell that. I was always glad to talk with him and view his creations. Even more than his being an inventive maker of thought-provoking art, I will remember Kurt Von Voetsch as a humble, kind, and generous man. -Bruce Philip Bitmead Starlight Studio Director, Carrie Marcotte, remembers: I was so thankful to go on the studio visit to Kurt’s house with Bruce. It was life affirming to experience Kurt’s humanity and a visual treat to witness his drawing process.
