Kindergarteners have been learning about jobs this month and figuring out what they would like to do when they grow up. Today they were treated to a special visit from a kindergarten parent, Amanda B., who is the President of Supergoop! Supergoop! makes just about every type of sunscreen you could need and Mrs. B. described what her daily life is like running the company. One boy exclaimed, Wow You’re the boss! Lucky! Later that afternoon, two FBI agents dropped by. The class took a special kindergarten version of the FBI oath of office and then took each other’s fingerprints. Outside of the classrooms hang paper cut outs made by the boys depicting their future occupations which range from professional athletes to a farmer and a sense. They clearly think anything is possible which is the way it should be.

This morning’s assembly featured a hilarious sixth grade skit in which all of the presidential candidates debated the merits of the St. Bernard’s Raffle. Then Ms. Virtue’s Grade III class presented Sandlot which was a home run of a performance.

Our boys made Valentine’s cards for The Scarlett Fund which collects cards for children undergoing cancer treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. A sweet message indeed.

Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day, was celebrated in this morning’s school-wide assembly. Fifth graders sung Henry VIII’s Greensleeves in French and the entire school sang a rousing rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas. Academic achievement was also celebrated with the Best Handwriting Award given to a boy from each class, and an acknowledgement of our brightest mathematicians who will compete next month in a city-wide math competition. A great start to the Winter Term!
