Saint Francis of Assisi abandoned a life of luxury for a life devoted to Christianity after reportedly hearing the voice of God, who commanded him to rebuild the Christian church and live in poverty. As someone who saw God reflected in nature, St. Francis was a great lover of God's creation and thus, he is the patron saint of animals and the environment. The first in-person worship service in over 6 months was held in Fellowship Hall on September 27. How good it was to hear God's Word, receive Communion (bread only) and be together! It feels like the coronavirus has brought our planet to a screeching halt. School semesters are cancelled, concerts are cancelled, graduation is cancelled the list goes on and on. Yet not everything is cancelled. In this time of uncertainty, fear, seclusion, and separation from what we term normal, our human solution is to manage it o...urselves. But that is not what the Bible tells us. Turning to the Lord should be our first reaction not our last resort. This brief video is a reminder of the many God given gifts around us that we can turn to for peace and serenity. All we need to do is to focus our eyes, hearts and minds and look for them!
