Friends, I am happy to announce that today marks the first day of the Year of St. Joseph. Pope Francis declared this celebration in a decree published last Tues...day in order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. This will grant special indulgences to mark the year and is intended to help Christians strengthen their faith. This decree also includes personal reflections on St. Joseph by Pope Francis, further explaining why St. Joseph serves as a good model for Christians today.
