It is sad to see that the general public is "investing" in stock in companies that are in chapter 11 bankruptcy (like Hertz and J.c. Penney) when it is clear that the stock will get wiped out in the chapter 11 process and they will lose their investment,. The following article in Vanity Fair today explains this well:

Interesting news story from Reuters today. While business chapter 11 bankruptcy filings are surging, overall bankruptcy filings, including personal bankruptcy filings are down 43% from a year ago May.
