LIVE NOW: I’m joining with my colleagues and future colleagues in the Assembly and State Senate to urge the legislature to reconvene session and pass the Budget... Equity Act (S. 8198A/A. 9100), a bill that Senator Alessandra Biaggi and I have introduced that would amend the NYS Constitution to ensure that the Legislature plays an equal role with the Governor in shaping the State budget. Absentee Ballot Deadline & Info (June 23 Primaries) June 23, 2020 is election day for State & Federal Primaries. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all eligible registered voters may apply for an Absentee (mail-in) Ballot.... Absentee Application Deadline: To vote Absentee, the application must be postmarked, submitted online, emailed, or faxed by June 16, 2020. The voter should then receive an Absentee Ballot in the mail in the coming days. After June 16th, voters may apply for an Absentee Ballot in person (over-the-counter) at their local Board of Elections office through June 22nd. Acquiring an Application: An emergency Executive Order required all eligible voters be mailed an Absentee Ballot application by their local Board of Elections. If you are eligible to vote on June 23 and did not receive an application in the mail, applications are available online. NYC voters can request an application at https://vote.nyc/page/absentee-voting. Voters throughout the rest of the state can request an application on their local County Board of Elections website. Filling out the Application: When filling out the application, check off "temporary illness or physical disability" as the purpose for voting Absentee, as its purpose was expanded to include the potential for contracting COVID-19 due to the pandemic. This section should be checked off on applications sent out by the local Board of Elections. Deadline to Submit Absentee Ballot: Absentee Ballots must be accepted if postmarked by June 23, the date of the election. This is required by the legislature through its adoption of Chapter 91 of the Laws of 2020. Early Voting: In the alternative to voting Absentee or in-person on Election Day, the Early Voting period begins June 13 and ends June 21. All social distancing requirements, including wearing a mask, will apply. Please check your local Board of Elections website for more details on Early Voting hours and locations.
