Squats are one of the best exercises you can do, that is if you don't have chronic knee problems. You can cause knee pain by not performing squats correctly. Many people do not do them correctly and that can cause injury. here is the proper form you should use.

One of the things that works for people when trying to shed a few pounds or are trying to get healthier, is preparing all of their food for the work day ahead of time. This is a pic of what I'm taking to work tomorrow. I have my mid morning snack of cottage cheese and an orange , my lunch which is salad with steak, avocado and a whole wheat wrap, and my mid afternoon snack, greek yogurt with berries. I throw in a few of my fav drinks and of course I'm guzzling water all d...ay too! Naturally you need to pack clean, healthy food and not chips, pizza and soda Prep ahead, plan ahead and pack ahead for sucess!

When it comes to losing weight, one size does NOT fit all! We are all different in so many ways and what works for your friends, relatives and co-workers may not work for you at all. It's extremely frustrating when you see someone lose weight, ask them how they did it, follow their plan religiously and don't lose a pound!... Our bodies are very complex and you may need to try several plans to see what works for you. Of course you will need to follow the plan the way it is designed and not cheat or you will not know if it works. When trying a diet plan keep a daily food journal. I can't stress to you how important this is. People think they are following a program correctly but when they write everything (and I mean everything) down, it is usually a wake up call. People over eat daily and don't even realize it. Once you master a plan that works well for you, you won't need to journal as often. Take a look at the US News diet plans link and see if there is one that fits your needs. Losing weight and getting healthier is work. You need to do the research, ask questions, experiment with different plans. There is no easy fix. Put the work in and you will see results. Always ask your doctor before you start any new diet plan especially if you are on medications and/or have health concerns. Hi Everyone, It's been a minute since I have been on my site and I apologize for that. Life happens and has it ever been happening this year! Besides increasing my hours at work, my mom has been struggling, my husband left his job of 23 years to start a new one at 57 and I had hip surgery.... With all of this happening I have had to re-evaluate my life and pull back on several things including my FLOURISH site. I have truly enjoyed posting on my site and think I have even helped a few people find better health which makes me very happy. It makes me happy because I realize more and more as I get older that the only thing that really matters in this life we are given is our relationships. Our relationships with our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and of course the people we come in contact with daily. We may or may not build a relationship with them, but how we treat them matters a lot. My main focus right now is mom as she navigates the end of life. It is more difficult than I ever imagined and more draining than any workout I have ever done. It takes all of my energy and that's OK. My mother's comfort and needs have to be the priority right now because she always was there for me. Always. Time will tell if I continue with my FLOURISH site but for now I just can't seem to let go of this "relationship."

Even though I said I wouldn't, I got a little carried away with sweets this Christmas and am officially off them. I normally have good control but sometimes the treats are just to good to say no too! I definitely don't like the way I feel after eating sugar and REALLY don't like the weight gain!
