On this Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children, we pray: Please God may we continue, closely united with one another, to be a force of renewal and hope in our society. May the Lord help us to work ceaselessly to enable all, believers and non-believers alike, to understand that protection of human life from conception is an essential condition for building a future worthy of the human being. Amen. #DayOfPrayer... #ProtectOurChildren #respectlife See more

On this feast of St Agnes, patron saint of girls and Girl Scouts, let us ask for her intercession for the needs and future success of all the young women in our lives. O, invincible Martyr, St. Agnes, by thy confidence in God’s help, when being condemned by the Roman prefect to see the lily of thy purity stained and trampled in the mud, thou did not despair, still trusting firmly in God. We beseech thee by thine intercession to obtain for us from Almighty God the forgivenes...s of our sins and sure confidence that He will bestow upon us life everlasting and the means necessary to merit it. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. #stagnes #Amen #girlpower

A Prayer for this US Inauguration Day: Almighty and eternal God, you have revealed your glory to all nations. God of power and might, wisdom and justice,... through you authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed. Assist with your spirit of counsel and fortitude the President of these United States, that his/her administration may be conducted in righteousness, and be eminently useful to your people over whom he/she presides. May he/she encourage due respect for virtue and religion. May he/she execute the laws with justice and mercy. May he/she seek to restrain crime, vice, and immorality. We likewise commend to your unbounded mercy all citizens of the United States, that we be blessed in the knowledge and sanctified in the observance of your holy law. May we be preserved in union and that peace which the world cannot give; and, after enjoying the blessings of this life, be admitted to those which are eternal. We pray to you, who are Lord and God, for ever and ever. Amen. - USCCB Book of Blessings #Amen #godblessamerica #PeaceAndUnity

Today’s Gospel from Matthew - 3 sentences; 3 powerful sentences: Jesus said to the crowds: Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.... Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. Amen! Maybe just for today we lay down our burdens and rest our soul in Jesus. #Amen #RestInHim #advent

Friday blessings friends! Today we celebrate all our Faith Formation families. Though we can’t physically be together this year, each family started the year off by creating their own family poster and delivering them to Church to hang in the back hall. Keep our children in your prayers that they continue to open their hearts and minds to our Lord in this new mode of learning. ... #faithformation #prayforourchildren

On this feast day of St. Jude, let us send up our prayers for that we despair over and the lost causes in our lives. God the Father, give me hope. Help me to know that your hope is alive in me as I offer kindness, forgiveness, and tenderness to others. I seek the calm that comes from trusting in your hope and your healing presence.... I trust that your servant St. Jude walks with me in all the blessings and challenges of my life, and intercedes on behalf of my petitions. St. Jude, fill my heart with hope. Amen.

God of creating, redeeming and sustaining grace, We guard in our hearts, O God, the memories of what happened at Pearl Harbor 79 years ago. Bless all who lost their lives. Bless the families who were forced to live without fathers and mothers, husbands and wives. Bless those who stood their ground and fought for peace. And bless us, O God, as we remember today.... You have given us many freedoms, O God. The freedom to choose love over hate, peace over war, humility over arrogance, justice over prejudice and good over evil. Now fill us with your guiding spirit. Guide our hearts, our minds, our hands, our feet and our voices as we journey forward. In all that we do, may your light shine. This we pray together in a spirit of hope, peace, joy and love. Amen - Rev. Sarah Weaver

Did you know? The iVoteCatholic site provides a wonderful weekly guide leading up to the election looking at each of the 7 principles of Catholic Social Teaching with videos, prayers, music suggestions, and reflections. October 25th - 31st: Rights and Responsibilities... Therefore every person has a fundamental right to life and a right to those things required for human decency. Corresponding to these rights are duties and responsibilities to one another, to our families and to the larger society. Every basic human right draws its authoritative force from the natural law, which confers it and attaches to it its respective duty. Hence, to claim one’s right and ignore one’s duties, or only half fulfill them, is like building a house with one hand and tearing it down with another. St. John XXIII, Pacem in Terris, no. 30 With rights come responsibilities to others, to our families and to the common good of all.

Respect Life, Week #4 reflection: OPEN WIDE OUR HEARTS: THE ENDURING CALL TO LOVE Racism can often be found in our hearts in many cases placed there unwillingly or unknowingly by our upbringing and culture. As such, it can lead to thoughts and actions that we do not even see as racist, but nonetheless flow from the same prejudicial root. Consciously or subconsciously, this attitude of superiority can be seen in how certain groups are vilified, called criminals, or are ...perceived as being unable to contribute to society, even unworthy of its benefits. Racism can also be institutional, when practices or traditions are upheld that treat certain groups of people unjustly. The cumulative effects of personal sins of racism have led to social structure of injustice and violence that makes us all accomplices in racism. Friday blessings friends. Today we ask St. John of Capistrano, patron saint of military chaplains and judges, for his holy intercession. St. John, your life was colorful and full of heroic feats; pray that we who are not given to spectacular displays of faith and courage may be loyal and faithful in the little things that come across our way throughout our daily lives. St. John, you were known as a healer and many people brought their sick loved ones to you to be healed. Pray... for those who are suffering from ill health whom we bring before you this day. St. John, you won many souls away from heresy by your preaching and by your holy example; pray for our fallen away friends and relatives, that they may come back to the One, True, Holy, and Apostolic Church. #Amen #prayforus
