DIY Chemistry Lab: Balloon Blow Up and Homemade Yeast! Thursday and Friday at 11am, pm me for zoom link. What is yeast and how does it make our bread so fluffy?... We’ll look at a number of substitutes for yeast and make our own homemade batch with the power of chemistry! Materials needed: 4 ballloons(available at most Rite-Aid stores) 4 narrow necked empty bottles(i.e. Water bottle or soda bottle). Alka seltzer tablet Baking soda Vinegar Baking powder Lemon juice Flour Sugar Bottled Water or tap water that has been sitting on a counter for at least 24 hours, or boiled for 8-10 minutes.
