It's Teacher Tuesday! Today we would like to introduce to you a new lead teacher. Miss Thelma is a well-known face around the studio assisting classes, subbing when needed, and taking classes of her own. She has performed with One Pulse at Family Life Network. She has participated in a master class with Paul Taylor's Taylor 2 Company when they came to STEPS Dance Studio. She has also performed in Genesee Dance Theatre's Nutcracker performances and has attended Dance Masters of America's student workshops. She has been training in dance for 14 years and is well-versed in many styles of dance including ballet, tap, modern, jazz, hip hop, and acro dance. She is currently teaching at both STEPS locations - Wellsville and Houghton. Welcome Miss Thelma!

Focus Friday: a time to take a look into a STEPS dance studio class! Today we look at our Acro 2 class taught by Miss Tracey who is Acrobatic Arts certified. Core strength is an important part of Acro as it is the key to mastering skills such as bridges, round-offs, one handed cartwheels, back walkovers, handstands, and much more! This month Acro 2 focuses on building blocks -- they are practicing the skills of doing bridges from a standing position. Once that is perfected then they can start working on their back walkovers! If you are interested in joining Acro 2 our current class is full but contact us to be put on the waiting list. If we get enough interest then we can open up another class!

We are so thankful for our local volunteer heroes! We had a faulty alarm sound off at the studio Monday night. We quickly evacuated and these brave men and women came to ensure everything was safe! Miss Rachel arranged for an additional inspection Tuesday morning by a local utility company and they also confirmed it was safe to keep dancing!

Yes, we are open and dancing this Monday, October 12th!

You will see a familiar (masked) face at the studio more often this year. Join us in welcoming Michelle Wagner to our administrative staff! She will welcome you to the studio and answer questions you may have. She is helping the teachers to be able to better focus on teaching while she takes care of office duties and covid-19 prevention related tasks. Miss Michelle and her children have been part of our STEPS dance family for over 7 years. We pray that her love for Jesus and her love for others will bless our students and their families this year!

Fall 2020 will look a little different from fall 2019, but we are so thankful to be able to dance and laugh and be together again in SIX days! Here is a picture sideshow for our dancers to better know what they can do to help everyone stay safe this year!
