St Blaise Wednesday, February 3 is the feast day of St. Blaise, a physician who was a fourth century bishop in Armenia in what is now Turkey. While in prison for refusing to renounce his faith, he saved a man who was choking on a fish bone. Later he was tortured in prison and beheaded, becoming a martyr for his Christian faith. Seventeen centuries after his death, he is venerated as the patron of those who suffer from throat disease.
