We look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the biblical purpose of prayer is that we may get to know God Himself. Oswald Chambers

Greetings, members are friends! I pray you are all doing well. With so much going on in our Nation, I thank God we have our hope and faith in Jesus Christ! We would be open next Sunday, January 17th, but we have to push that back a couple of weeks until the 1st Sunday in February. A couple of reasons: Since the holidays, the covid numbers have jumped in our county, as have hospitalizations. As per the Synod, we should remain closed a couple of weeks to see if those ...numbers come down. The main concern is that we are running out of room at our hospitals. We live in a rural area, and our local hospitals are small and have their limits (though they are doing an AMAZING job!) My Lupus symptoms have been slowly getting worse for weeks now. I have waited way too long to go to the doctor. I will be getting blood work done and then a treatment. That will put me out of commission for 2-3 weeks. I know I can't wait any longer, and I thank you for your prayers and understanding. These are challenging times for us all. Tempers are short, stress high. People are losing their patience and compassion. But our God is faithful, and in Him, we are His Church on earth. I will continue to send out the weekly service via email and on Facebook. If you need anything, do not hesitate to drop me a line or call. I love you, and I want to be there for you. God willing, with my health and the covid numbers, we will be back in church on Sunday, February 7th. First Sunday in February. Thank you for understanding. I miss you! In Christ, Pastor Dave

A prayer for a time of civic distress: Rise up and come to our help, merciful God, for we are in need. Our spirits are weighed down with fear; our bodies feel a...s fragile as the dust from which we came. All that we have trusted seems hidden from sight. Although this moment has come upon our nation, you have not forgotten us. We do not trust in our own power or strength, but in your steadfast love in every generation. Show us your face in this time of trial, remind us of your faithfulness, and save us for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (All Creation Sings, p. 49) See more

Based on the numbers of new positive covid cases and hospital capacity, Montgomery County is not yet a critical zone. Unfortunately, numbers are trending higher. This could mean a designation of yellow, orange or red zone may be near. As of today, St. John's Lutheran Church is open for worship service on Sunday. If you do not feel well or do not feel comfortable, please do not come to church.

The hospital occupancy will be used to determine the zone: yellow, orange or red. The zone determines the level of restriction. Other area Lutheran Churches are closed until after Christmas. A decision will be made on Friday for St. John's. Stay home if you do not feel well. Wash your hands. Wear a mask covering your nose and mouth.
