The Feast of the Holy Innocents! First the Magi, then Joseph were warned in dreams to avoid Herod who planned to kill the infant Jesus. Joseph fled with his family to Egypt, and the Magi went home by a different route. By order of Herod, untold infant boys in Bethlehem were slaughtered, becoming the first martyrs, dying so that the infant Jesus would live to fulfill his mission of salvation. We are so grateful. So we pray, from My Carholic Life: Holy Innocents of Bethlehe...m, you died unnamed at the hands of a madman. May your pristine souls, washed in blood, give hope to all who suffer unjustly, that one day their sacrifice will be rewarded with triumph, if not for themselves, then for those who follow. Today is the feast of the Holy Family. In this painting by Rod and Justine Peterson of Gethsemane Art, Mary gazes at her son and Lord with love and adoration, while Joseph, gently holding both, looks at Mary, promising his devotion and protection for this family. Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for us !
