Rocket, the rescue Australian cattle dog, has begun to understand her purpose and place. She accompanies me in to check the cattle and watches over them. Can’t wait to start our training! #cattledog #aussiesofinstagram #bluehealer #cowdog #belties

Falling. Falling. The deep winter has been so exactly what we need here at the farm this year. The snow presses us down. Soaks up the sounds. And invites us to wander out into the quiet world. #exploredeeper #getoutside #barn #snow #quiet #farm

This was the last round of flowers that came from the 2020 garden before the killing frost the next morning. We loved setting the tables every Saturday for our pizza nights! Only 12 more Saturdays until the first PIZZA NIGHT 2021!! #farm #pizza #realfood #summer2021

Rey. She loves this weather. And when I’m out doing morning chores with her it’s hard for me to disagree. The two puppies (at 2 years old they are not really puppies) love her soo much! #farmdog #catskills #winter #farm #chores

Thanks to our gorgeous Dunn Belted Galloway Bull, Elvis, we have some new color in our herd! It’s hard to believe these calves are less than 3 months old! They are so fluffy and big right now. Ready for whatever weather the Catskills can throw at them this winter! #getoutside #pastureborn #pastureraised #regenerative #farming #ruralurban #farmstay #eatrealfood

Work continues. Winter won’t stop us! We are insulating and residing our small barn. The barn was moved from the village of walton to the Kilpatrick dairy farm in the early part of last century. A new law required that dairy farmers keep their horses in a different barn than their dairy cows. (To prevent disease from spreading between them) so the small barn housed their horses, and the barn now serves as our center of operations for the farm and workshops. Gotta get ready for next year!! Thanks to @chad_rockefeller and @human_nate.ure for working in the incredible variety of weather that Mother Nature throws at us during this time of year. #selfbuilt #farmer #farmstay #place #barn

I am grateful for the opportunity to share the wisdom that comes from living alongside animals each and everyday. Every person that visits the farm gets to witness the lives of so many animals. Chickens, pigs, guinea fowl, sheep, turkeys, dairy cows, beef cows, livestock guard dogs, barn cats, herding dogs, ducks, a pet dog. Not to mention the wild animals! Frogs, birds, bats, mice, spiders, worms, lightening bugs, butterflies, toads, hawks, and hundreds more! Sharing my life with theirs has been a magical, heartbreaking, backbreaking, all consuming, never ending and thoroughly fulfilling experience. I wouldn’t change the last 15 years for anything. I look forward to the next 15. Let’s get started! #grateful #thankyou #animals #farm #wild #wisdom #motherearth #animalwisdom #catskills #mountains #farmstay

I am grateful for this cacophony that greets me every morning. So grateful for the birds, the bugs, the wind, the sun, the fog. As a farmer there are so many things we are responsible for caring for each and every day - I am so grateful that all of these things do their thing without any input from me. #birds #bugs #wind #sun
