Stony Point Day Camp

Good morning SPDC family!! Since we have been cancelled this year I still wanted to do something to help out parents and counselors. I have a few counselors who are interested in babysitting and I know there are some parents who will be going back to work that may need child care. So I'm kinda playing matchmaker. If you need a sitter...I have a few counselors who are looking for work. Message me on the side and I will give you the list of counselors I have so far. Message from the Town: Due to ongoing challenges associated with COVID-19 the Town of Stony Point is unfortunately announcing the cancellation of our summer camp program for the 2020 season. The decision to cancel the camp program was not an easy one and has been made based on a number of factors especially our concern for the safety of our children and staff. Additionally, it has been determined after consultations with the State, county and other relevant parties that: T...he Town is unable to ensure appropriate health screening, proper social distancing, or safe transportation for our campers. Our camp facilities and staffing levels will not enable us to comply with State regulations and other public health requirements. We do not have adequate indoor facilities nor will we have sufficient bus transportation available to transport campers to a safe location in the event of inclement weather. Current State regulations require a 50% reduction of the in-person workforce at our pool facilities. The Town currently lacks the personnel and budget to effectively clean bathrooms, equipment and other facilities in accordance with State regulations. While we know that our summer camp program is so important to our residents, it is for these reasons that we cannot safely offer our camp program this summer. The Town will continue to work tirelessly to come back strong from this pandemic, working together with our residents, emergency service workers, businesses, and volunteers.

I was holding off on posting this for a few reasons but I am finding out that many people are still not aware. One of the reasons for not posting earlier is it is still very difficult to even talk about. It is with deep sadness and regret that I inform the Stony Point Day Camp community that our beloved Assistant Director, Ashley Caggiano, tragically passed away this week. She was an energetic and caring person who loved working with the campers and was an amazing person to be around. We will miss your smile, laugh, and vibrant personality. Your memory will live on at the camp as we will NEVER forget you! RIP Ashley

Effective immediately all Stony Point Recreation activities including Bagels with the Bunny have been cancelled. This is a difficult time for everyone as our li...ves have been disrupted. The concern for the health and safety of the community is our greatest priority. We hope that everyone is following the health official's orders and guidelines regarding COVID-19. Hi everyone!! As we approach the last day tomorrow, I am feeling bitter sweet! I really had a wonderful time this summer! I will miss SPDC 2019...by far the best yet! All of the counselors and directors on the staff worked hard to ensure the kids had as much fun as they could! We hope the kids truly had a memorable experience and made the summer what they wanted it to be. We look forward to 2020 and I hope to see all of the kids back for another great one! Tomorrow is ...our end of the season picnic...the kids need $5 just to cover the cost of lunch. Lunch includes a hot dog, chips, watermelon, soda/water and an ice stick! We will also have duck races, talent show, the BIG water slide and we are going to try to squeeze in a water balloon toss! It is also Hawaiian shirt day to celebrate the last day! Happy New Year SPDC family!! After a difficult off season I am starting to arrange the schedule and get things geared up for the summer. Here is what I know right now....camp will start the week after school ends. June 29th through August 7th. Registration will be June 1st through the 6th...times to be determined. Same as last year...you must have everything with you to register your campers in person. Signed permission slips, immunization forms, and proof of residency. Late fee of $25 will be applied if you do not register on these dates. The online registration form is not ready to be done yet. Looking forward to another AMAZING summer! See you at camp!

Our final week is upon us! It was a fun year filled with new memories and exciting times! I hope all the kids had as much fun as the staff did! I can say that this has been the best year since I have taken over. As always, we appreciate any feedback to improve the program and there are already ideas in the works for next summer! I must say a GIANT thank you to my right and left hand girls...Assistant (co-) director Ashley Caggiano and my awesome Nurse Liz! As always, it's the counselors who really help with the kids and make things fun for the kids! We had some great caring counselors....please be sure to thank them! Let's have a great final week! Hi everyone....due to the weather we had to leave splashdown about 20 minutes ahead of schedule. According to the GPS we should be arriving at the pool at about 315-320. Please remember to pick up your camper on the blacktop...for safety reasons we are not just letting campers walk through the parking lot. Good morning SPDC...we have an array of items left behind by our campers. These are some of the big ticket items in our lost and found box....we still have a bazillion socks and under garments we are not displaying! Please claim the items by the end of the camp season or they will be donated! Thank you! See you at camp!

Wednesday: Boulders Game! $15 we will be back at the camp for 3pm dismissal. Extra $ needed if the kids want snacks or food. Campers must wear THIS YEAR'S camp shirt. Not only for safety but with all the other camps there...all the different colors looks really cool! Thursday: Pool Day. Because of the switch, Kangaroo swirls cannot be there, but there will be another truck coming with soda and snacks...unfortunately this truck does not sell ice cream. sorry! Fri...day: Pool Day. Sports Gear day! Campers can wear their best or favorite jerseys or other sports gear to represent their favorite teams!! I hope all the kids are having fun! That is the whole reason we do this. We ask that parents to encourage the kids to leave electronics at home...games, phones, or whatever. The best camp experience is playing games and activities with friends and making life long memories! Any way we can make the experience better...please let us know! Thank you and see you at camp!!! Hi everyone...due to the length of the movie and the poor weather conditions we are running behind. The last bus from the movies, as of now, will return at approximately 3:05pm. We will then load the buses and be on our way home. Sorry for the inconvenience. See you at camp!

Morning all....we will be going to Farley today but we will still be going to the movies. You can wear pajamas or our red canp shirt. Please make sure you have the permission slip for spiderman...otherwise it will be Dumbo. The cafeteria is currently under construction so we will be starting camp from the gymnasium. Have the student leave sports equipment at home...we will not be needing it. I would like to leave to go to the movies by 10:15 am...since spiderman is a long movie! BRING A LUNCH!! In order to protect our campers...we are changing our dismissal on late returning field trip days...all campers will be taken up to the blacktop and parents must let their counselor know who you are taking. No campers will be allowed to walk through the parking lot to meet their parents. Sorry for the inconvenience and we hope you understand that it is for the security and safety of your children! For the movie this week, you MUST sign a PG13 permission slip for spiderman. If a camper does not have one signed...he or she will not be allowed to see Spiderman. They will watch the alternate movie Dumbo. Even if they are 13 or 14 years old. Try to have campers on time on movie day this week because of the length of the movie we are going to try to leave camp at 10:15 so we are back on time. See you at camp! Craig

Good morning SPDC!! We are excited to go to our new movie theater today! We are seeing Toy Story 4. It is $8 for admission and the concession stand will be open. $5 kids pack combos that include popcorn, a drink, and fruit snacks are available. Next week we will be seeing Spiderman: Far From Home....which is a PG-13 movie. The owner of the theater offered me an alternate movie for any kids that are not comfortable seeing a PG 13 movie. I am a sucker for the classics so I chose Dumbo. We will be activating the PG -13 permission slip link soon....ALL campers need to have it signed if they want to see next weeks Spiderman movie. After a great trip to Rye Playland....sadly we are on the way back to camp. According to google maps, we should be home at about 3:35. Please use caution when driving in the parking lot of the pool. We will send out a text when we are closer.

Camp shirts today please!!

Tomorrow is Rye Playland trip. $25 and please pack a lunch to avoid high prices and waiting on food lines. We will be back at 4pm..traffic can be difficult coming across the bridge so if we are going to be late we will post on facebook and send a text through the remind app. If you have not signed up there are instructions on the week 1 or week 2 schedules to help you. Please remind your campers the importance of remaining with their counselors...especially in a big place like playland. See you at camp!!

PHONES ARE BACK IN OPERATION!!! 942 1888. Woohoo!!

Girls will be going bowling in the morning and boys will be going in the afternoon. This means the girls will be having to order lunch from the bowling alley which is a bit more expensive...or bring a lunch is ok. Boys will order through the camp like on pool days or can bring a lunch. Please spread the word!

Just a heads up...all kids received a card for the arcade...due to time constraints we do not think all the campers will get to the counter to cash in their tickets for a prize...the kids may come home with the arcade cards with tickets on them. You can come back to redeem them for prizes at a later date...we apologize for the inconvenience.

I am officially closing down registration. Thank you everyone. Gonna be a fun season! Tomorrow is our first field trip! We are going to Launch Trampoline park. If you have not filled out a Launch waiver please do so and bring it with you tomorrow! The kids will get socks and a $10 arcade card...I highly suggest bringing lunch...food there can be expensive and takes a long time to make since it is made to order...we dont want to miss out on the fun! The fee for tomorrow's trip is $25...there are no activities at the pool so if campers are not going to Launch they do not come to camp. We will be back in time for regular dismissal at 3pm. Hi all!! Awesome first day! I hope the kids had a blast! We are looking forward to a great summer....dont forget...this week is Launch on Wednesday if you did not hand a waiver in when you registered...please do so asap! We have no movies this week but Friday is Celebrate America Day...wear as much red, white, and blue as possible! Don't forget sunscreen and water! SUPER EXCITED about opening day on Monday!! It is an all day pool day...."Getting to know you" day. We will be ordering lunch...the menu is on the website. Please label ALL your campers belongings...we'd like to reduce the amount of lost and found items this year. Please make sure they have sunscreen and water with them as well. All money should be labels and in an envelope or ziploc bag...especially the younger kids. Camp ends at 3pm...so the campers need to be picked up or on a bus by that time. If you are picking up...make sure you have photo ID with you. If someone else is picking up your child...a WRITTEN note is needed and will be placed on file for the summer. Ok everyone...please spread the word that in person registration will start on Monday June 3rd at 5pm -8pm and continue all week at the same time. We will have a session on Saturday at 9 am til 12pm. Please remember to have all documentation ready...you will need the child's immunization record, the field trip consent form(found on the website), payment in full, and proof of residency. You also must register using the online registration forms. All information and schedule you need is now posted on the website. If any of the above mentioned are not complete, your application will not be accepted. Any registration after next week will incur an $25 late fee. Thank you! See you at camp (registration)!!

The new documents are up on the website...the schedule and other information...one correction is the movie price. It will be $1 less than listed...it will be $8 this year...NOT $9. There are some documents from last year that have not been removed yet...they will be this weekend.

We are finalizing the field trips as we speak and in person registration is scheduled for the first week of June. June 3rd thru June 7th from 5pm -8pm and there will be a few hours on Saturday the 8th. After these dates there will be a late registration fee added. We are working on editing the online registration form and it will be finalized soon. ALL parts of the application must be completed at the time of the in person registration or it will not be accepted, including immunizations.
