WE NEED YOU! JOIN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH AND HELP US STOP THE GRAVESEND BAY GARBAGE STATION! JOIN ASSEMBLYMAN COLTON'S "NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH" We need residents to volunteer to watch and document the construction activities at the proposed garbage station site. If you live near the area or have a home/apartment that overlooks the site, please document and report what you see happening. You may take photos and write down concerns. Neighbors are asked to report anything that seems... out of the ordinary that could potentially spread toxic materials from the construction site. Here are a few red flags to look out for: Conditions to report: 1. Uncovered mounds of soil and debris left uncovered overnight and/or on the weekends 2. Blowing soil debris or dust (especially on days with windy conditions) 3. Strange and noxious fumes or smells 4. Any signs of smoke or exhaust from at or around the site 5. Any dumping or allowing of soil, debris or other substances to fall into the waters. 6. Constructions trucks with uncovered loads of soil, debris or other substances without being covered by a tarp,Leaking trucks, debris falling from trucks 7. Any substances leaking from construction vehicles 8. Any emergency or unsafe condition, with the presence of any emergency vehicles or ambulances, etc. at the site 9. Trucks creating traffic problems 10. Construction at odd hours of the night or early in the morning 11. Unprotected water during construction (construction work occurring without protective netting or barriers in or around the water) 12. If it is raining, look out for truck tires tracking toxic mud through the neighborhood Residents can send tips, photos, and concerns to [email protected], or contact Assemblyman Colton’s office at 718-236-1598 and ask to speak to Priscilla or Nancy. Make sure to include the date and time of the incident. If there is a construction vehicle or truck involved, please record the names, companies, and license plates of the vehicles.

The special conditions of the construction permit are not being followed, putting our environment and public health at risk. These initial reports of our Neighborhood Watch are shocking and disturbing, said Colton. It has become clear that we cannot trust the city administration in following the safety protocols of the construction permit, and so we are asking the neighborhood public to watch the construction activities and make sure that the safety protocols are being followed. http://www.bensonhurstbean.com//pols-sloppy-construction-/
