So we have at least 18 inches here from last nights snow storm and I’ve been snowed in with my two loves all day . I love snow days when we’re all home and it’s just the three of us with no place to go . We got to sleep in, had homemade pancakes, snuggles on the couch and some winter fun out doors ... . I had a list of things I hoped to accomplish today and none of them were checked off but that’s okay this is just what we all needed just to be the three of us . How do you spend your snow day? . What are some new traditions or fun things your doing this Holiday season that you didn’t do last year ? . I looked at the calendar this morning and I couldn’t believe it’s December 9th!! . Having said that Happy December friends, Lol (I’m a little behind) You may have noticed I haven’t been activate this past week I’m super busy over here with some exciting changes to our home (which it’s been so long I forgot how much work there is before they happen) it’s been early mor...nings to the studio for virtual learning for my son so we’re not in our home while they work. All mixed in with all the Christmas things happening . We usually go into NYC every Christmas and do some shopping, go to our favorite restaurant, see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center and watch the rockettes in the Christmas Spectacular...This year we are trading that in for a drive-thru Christmas light show that we’re really excited for. I just recently took a book off of my bookshelf called Choose Wonder Over Worry By: @heyamberrae I purchased it from the sweetest book store @bookstoreplus in my favorite town of Lake Placid this time last year. . Sometimes, I pick up books along my travels & never get to reading them. This book was a gem of a find and when I picked this out last year as I was getting ready to open up a new studio space with @erinwitkowskiphoto this book caught my eye & my heart . Very early on in her book she mentions these words and it resonated deep inside my veins. I couldn’t of put it in any better words myself on how I felt this time last year as I took a leap of faith and made my dreams become my reality I wanted to dive deeper into sharing my gifts with others. We all have these beautiful gifts and if we don’t use them and share them with others we all miss out! . It was a reminder that not all was bad this year even if it was little moments there is still so many big things to be grateful for. Taking this leap of faith was one of the best things I have ever done for myself and my family and yes it happened right before one of the worst times in all of our lives right before COVID entered our world. . I’ve been doing a lot of deep reflection for the month of November. I have putting it all out into the universes of all that I’m grateful for and boy there is so much goodness that I’m grateful for . However, today my heart was deeply heavy after a tough day of remote learning for my son who misses his friends & school so much, heavy that my days look so different then this time last year , heavy that I miss lunch dates with girlfriends and getting together with my family... for gatherings and heavy for all of us in this together trying to adjust to a new way . Then suddenly this picture of my beautiful grandmother, my truest friend that was taken 5 years ago popped up on my computer. This image was taken when we knew her days here on earth were coming to an end as she was getting weaker and cancer was taking over . When I seen this image today instantly tears began to fall down my face releasing all of those feeling from earlier today. Then just in a moment of time the biggest smile appeared on my face and my heart was full again with happiness as the memories that I hold deep in my heart started flooding my mind of this beautiful soul. . It was just the reminder that I needed today there is no light without darkness and it brought me back to my grateful heart . THANKFULNESS . With all my stories today about Christmas I thought it was a good time to talk about Thankfulness with Thanksgiving right around the corner ( which I’m sooo excited for) If anything good has come out of this year it’s that it has showed me what is most important in life and not to take a moment for granted because all that it takes is a moment or in my case a phone call that could of changed my world. . If you asked me this time last year what I’m most than...kful for many of the things would be just the same As a yoga teacher I reflect daily on what I’m thankful for during my morning meditation and gentle yoga but this year I feel like the same things that meant the most last year have a much deeper meaning then ever before. . If I could pick just one thing I’m most thankful for it would be the gift of health. After a tough year of not knowing what my future might look like with a major health scare and then COVID entered our world. I had plenty of time to reflect what I could do differently for our health (my family) both physical health and mental health (because I believe they are equally important and run hand in hand with each other)Without our health nothing else really matters all of the materialistic things that I love like designer hands bags, vacations, nice cars ect... mean nothing at all. What I can say is all of those things are much less important to me now then this time last year and it feels so good .
