The Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association and the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association together donated $10,000 to help feed the food insecure on Long Island. With pandemic-fueled economic hardship sweeping our region, and the nation, we are doing our part to ensure Long Island families have food on their tables this holiday season. Thank you to Island Harvest Food Bank, Long Island's largest emergency hunger-relief organization, for the work they do to curb hunger across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy. On this day 79 years ago, over two thousand service members and civilians perished in a deliberate attack against our nation. We remember these courageous men and women, and innocent civilians, who died as a result of this unprovoked attack against our country and its ideals.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart joined Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Seth D. DuCharme, Suffolk County Dis...trict Attorney Timothy D. Sini and Special Agent-in-Charge, Homeland Security Investigations Christopher Lau to announce the arrests of six people for their participation in a birth tourism scheme that took place in Suffolk County during the past three years. The scheme involved pregnant Turkish women fraudulently entering the United States using tourist and business visas between 2017 and 2020 to give birth and obtain citizenship for their children and medical benefits for both mother and children. As a result of the plan, Medicaid disbursed more than $2.1 million in benefits to 117 mothers who gave birth to 119 babies. These arrests will send a message--bilking the system and swindling our residents will not be tolerated in Suffolk County, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart said.
