In addition to these steps, please make sure to exit the building during an alarm activation and stand on the sidewalk across the street from your dorm. Please keep the roadway clear for responding apparatus, including DPS, SU Fire Safety, and Syracuse Fire Department vehicles. Good luck to our new incoming students and let's have a safe year. Practice lab safety all the time! Know the properties of the chemicals and instruments you're using, and know how to neutralize them/shut them down. Know two ways out and never work in a lab alone!

Always lock your door when you leave. This includes during fire alarms...our staff routinely finds unlocked doors with rooms full of electronics and other valuables during building evacuations.
