Sumner"s wintergreen tree farm 24.01.2021

UPDATES FROM THE TREE FARM We will be open this weekend. We may be a little short on help, though, so be aware. You may need to be patient if you need help with your tree. We seem to be getting calls for and selling a lot of big trees. BIG TREES ARE HEAVY! If you are planning to get a big tree, try to bring an appropriate vehicle (truck, trailer or at least a roof rack). We reserve the right to not put 20 foot trees on top of mini-Coopers. And bring ratchet straps or rope. Ou...r twine is not adequate for 300 pound trees - especially on windy days. SOME BIG TREES WON"T GO THROUGH THE BALER. If at all possible, we recommend putting your tree inside or in the trunk of your sedan or SUV rather than on top. If you have the bulk of the weight of the tree inside, even if you have to tie the hatch down, we feel better about it. Let's err on the side of safety - please keep your mask on around the selling shed. When you are down in the field with your family, just use your discretion. Thanks, and thank you to everyone that already visited, especially our first customer last Saturday who brought cookies from DeFilipi's/downtown Middletown. Check in here for more updates as the weekend shapes up.

1. Shake it. 2. Slice it. 3. Soak it. Bang the butt of the tree on a hard surface to shake the dead needles out. Make a fresh cut. Never let the water level get below the bottom of the tree. I'm not kidding! Never!

As is strongly suggested by the modified lyrics of this Christmas classic, we are open for business this weekend and the following weekend. So come on over and get this Christmas season started off right!

We will be open for cutting (I mean sustainably harvesting) your Christmas Tree Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6, and December 12 and 13, 9AM to 4 PM. As I posted earlier, we will try to accommodate other time slots this year but you may need to have some flexibility, and you may need to be able to cut, haul and load the tree your self. Plus the hot chocolate may not be hot (are we allowed to do that this year?) and the fire pit won't be cooking. Sumner's Wintergreen Tree Farm wishes you a vaccine, or whatever you think will help, for Christmas.
