Hey Yoga Buddies I have some big goals for 2019 that will take some focus on and the overcoming of fears, I'm sure. (Redo the website, make a proper brochure, offer continuing education class on the topic of Seniors yoga and fitness, and continue to teacher and learn about pelvic floor health and yoga.) One of my fun work goals is to create short, funny, educational videos on (subtle) yoga etiquette. We all know that it's rude to leave your phone on (though I respect that ...sometimes it's a necessity). There are a number of very subtle things that can happen that I find annoying enough to try to gently educate the masses. This one may seem silly, but it erks me: ok, you are in a yoga class and someone brings with them their possession, a gym bag or purse or something, and, instead of keeping their things within their space they put it far away from them, but now in someone else's space. I guess I'm just really sensitive. It happened to me when I was in the back of the class near the door and a nice guy dropped his gym bag next to me and carried on to has spot across the room. I can see why someone would think the back corner near the props, near the door would be ideal - but it's not. I've got a list going and I'd love to know your pet peeve. I hope to find a way to kindly say, "can you not do that, please?" My sister takes classes in Brooklyn and seems to dislike about people that arrive late because then they have to adjust the mats - everyone has to move over. We don't have such issues in Rochester. Once I got a couple dirty looks upon arriving late to a class though. As a yoga teacher that must be hyper-punctual I consider every free minute luxurious. Then there was a REALLY, REALLY loud breather. That was almost comical. Every time the teacher would offer instruction she'd be interrupted by someone purposely exhaling as loud as he can. The thing is he was probably told to breath like that one time and now it's his thing. Will you kindly and gently share how you think we can make yoga class a better place ? It's not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings but rather to make fun of myself and how overly sensitive I am. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I'm having so much fun with my Sassy Seniors and the Strong Seniors and the Yoga Bones crew. You are all Active, Ageless Yogis and Yoginis! Thank you for being my greatest teachers. Age is a number and an accomplishment that deserves respect - including in your yoga class. Keep in moving! Because, it feels so good to get so good!!! Happy 2019!
