Happy New Year to everyone. I know our country is in the midst of chaos, so I thought it best to begin the year by sharing some wisdom from one of our American heros.....Yogi Berra. Not only was he a WWII purple heart recipient, he also is known for his quotes, so here are some bits to ponder. "When you come to a fork in the road, take it!" "You can observe a lot just by watching." "Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours."... "The future ain't what it used to be." I hope this makes you smile today.
I hope and pray that everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day. I hope that you spent yesterday being grateful and today, I hope you all feel peace. As we transition into the Christmas season, may we all recognize the importance of Peace, and may that be our theme.
Good morning and I hope your world is well. I have been getting many phone calls asking how the recent political events are effecting the markets. The second big question is what will the markets do based on who ends up being the President. Great questions. I have only focused on a few trusted Economists through all of this. Too many opinions creates too many variable factors. The markets have seemed to be performing well in the midst of political unrest. Why? Great qu...estion. Historically the markets prefer a split government. It seems, at this point, that we will have a Democratic House and a Republican Senate. The markets don't seem focused on who becomes President. Why is this a factor? Another great question. The reasoning for markets preferring a divided Congress is that it lowers the possibility of sweeping law and tax changes. The lowering of that reality (One side controls it all) creates a potentially calming effect. When stock and bond markets have a lower expectation of sweeping changes, we have a sense of peace in the middle of a storm. I would expect that there will be times of "knee-jerk" reactions and overreactions. That is what makes this all such a challenge. I hope it is okay for me to say how much I love all of this. What a great time to be alive. See more
Good morning world. I normally would not be happy to say this, but I am actually happy seeing the stock markets falling today. We don't live in a perfect world, so stocks should never just go up all the time. As I type this the Dow is down over 500 points. I do prefer markets to rise, but there HAS to be Earnings behind the rally. Lately we have seen a few stocks rise like the old Dot-Com days and I don't think any of us want to go back to those days. Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone. Let's be more grateful for those who have worked to keep our lives moving forward.
Good morning my friends, I hope all is well in your world. Based on the feedback I have been getting from my clients and friends, it seems that about everyone is still tired of hearing about health pandemics and such, so I will avoid such discussion and continue a few random facts that might help your day go better....so from my friends at thefactsite.com I bring you these fun facts. The National animal of Scotland is the Unicorn. 1 Million dogs in the US are listed in their ...owners' wills. 2013 was the 1st year since 1987 that contained four different numbers. In 2007, someone stole a 1000 gallon inflatable pool and the water that was inside it. Have a great day everyone, and as always, I am here to help anyone walk through the market ups downs and sideways moves. It has been an interesting few months and despite everything the sun came up again today! Perspective changes so much. Have a great day! Andy
