Turner Blast Hi Everyone, Well what a difference a week makes in the weather! Here we go with the week ahead:... TONIGHT: Kitchen is open from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. so stop down and grab a bite to eat. Kathy Nolan will be having some sort of special sandwich to satisfy your appetite. Tavern menu and Thursday night football! What more could you ask for? FRIDAY: The dinner special for this Friday is Beef Tips over Noodles. Yummy kind of food for this kind of weather! And of course we have our fish fry and a few other options as well. SATURDAY: The club will be open from 3:00 p.m. to close. Come on down and watch the World Series and have a few cocktails. SUNDAY: The main bar will be closed on Sundays from this week on due to VERY LOW sales. The club is open because we have open bowling downstairs so if you want to go to the club, they will be happy to serve you a beverage or two or three at the bowling alley bar. Thank you for your understanding. MONDAY: Happy Halloween! Stay safe out there with all those Trick or Treaters! Don’t forget the Turner Adult Olympics scheduled for November 5th at 6:00 p.m. Sign up sheet is posted on the Bar Room Door. The cost per team (consisting of 4 people) is $20. Bring a dish from your country to pass and feel free to dress in your country’s attire and colors. Re-member our Fellow Turners from the New England District will be here that weekend and will have two teams participating (or maybe more!) so come on down and let them see how much fun we can have at this special event. We have two countries represented so far. Those being Mexico and Ireland. Your envelope with money for the event may be left behind the bar for Brenda Perrotti. Have a great week everyone & see you at the club!

Fellow Turner Members, Last Tuesday at the November Regular Meeting, nominations were held for the Board of Directors Officer positions and the 5, 2-year Trustee positions up for election. No nominations were received for the Positions of: President, Vice President Secretary / Treasurer or Assistant Secretary Treasurer, for any one other than our four current officers. As a result a motion was made and voted on to re-elect these individuals as officers.... In addition, nominations were made for the five open Trustee positions. Eight Nominees were made, however only three members accepted the nominations. As a result, if no new nominations are made, the three nominees will be accepted onto the Board without an election. This is where you come in. Our Bylaws allow for write in votes for the open positions, however for a write in vote to be considered, the "write-in candidate" must provide the Board with a notice that they would accept the nomination / vote by DECEMBER 1st (TOMORROW). This "notification" can be a simple as a one sentence email sent to [email protected] stating, "I, _____, would accept a nomination to become a member of the Syracuse Turners Board of Trustees if so offered." Nominees MUST be available for monthly meeting held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. We've all participated in or heard comments about how "we" could / should do things differently / better at the Club, but we struggle to gain participation from our members with attendance at our Regular Meetings each month. This is your chance to have a say (not just "bar chatter") in how YOUR CLUB is run and to make a difference. Please consider tossing your name into the hat and become a Member of YOUR Board. It's the best way to see your ideas considered and / or implemented. Thank you YOUR Board of Directors

Now that the weather is turning cooler, we are featuring soup every week and for those who ask, we make our soup from scratch. Many of our Thursday night lady bowlers purchase soup every week and they can attest to the fresh ingredients. Our drink feature for the evening will be an Upside...Continue reading

FRIDAY NIGHT: There is no dinner this week, however, please make plans to come on down on Friday, July 31st for our always-popular Prime Rib dinner. AIR-CONDITIONED BAR!!: Due to the hard work of Bob Hess, Jon Hess, Darrin O’Hara & Mike Smorol, we now have a nice, cool bar to relax in. Our aging system conked out a few weeks ago and boy, has it been warm! The heat wave that we prayed for back in February has had a lot to do with it!! These members deserved a big hand an...d we appreciate all their dedication and hard work. CHIEFS GAME: We had some requests about getting everyone together for a night at the ball park. Most folks seem to like the Dollar Thursday promotion the Chiefs feature, so with that in mind, we settled on next Thursday, July 30th. The Chiefs take on Buffalo at 7:05 pm. We plan on meeting at the Club beforehand for those who would like to car-pool and we’ll have our own version of Dollar Thursday, too! Drink features and some snacks will be available starting at 4:00 pm. Ticket Update: We have purchased some tickets so you won’t need to! They are available first come, first serve and the cost is just $3.00 per person. In addition, we have discounted Parking Passes, too. Again, just $3.00 each (instead of paying the usual $5.00) and will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. You can pay for everything that night just contact Kathy Nolan (471-9851 or [email protected]) and she’ll set aside your tickets. This is a nice way of getting together with your fellow Turner members while enjoying our national pastime so make plans to join us on the 30th. FAMILY PICNIC: The Moran family has once again graciously agreed to host the annual Turner Family Picnic at their spacious abode on Saturday, August 15th beginning at Noon. A flyer is attached with more information and directions. Grab the kids, a cooler & your bathing suits and head on out to West Monroe for what is always a fun family day. VERNON DOWNS TRIP: Get ready for a night of playing the slots and betting on the horses! We are having our second annual trip to Vernon Downs on Friday, August 14th. The cost for Turner members and their guests is $25.00 per person. Get to the Club at 4 pm for a Happy Hour prior to boarding the bus and leaving for the track at 5:15 pm. Any questions, please see Judy Bacon or Ron Morgan. HONORARY SOCIETY MEETING: The monthly meeting will be Tuesday, July 28th beginning at 7 pm. All Honorary Members are encouraged to attend for some business and fun (mostly fun!)

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER: The Kitchen will be closed this Friday but the bar will be open from 3 pm till close. Kathy is covering for the bartenders who are busy with Fourth of July festivities and she welcomes any one still in town to come on down!! TRIVIA NIGHT: Don’t forget about our weekly trivia and sampling of seasonal craft beers, cocktails and, of course, wine! The fun begins around 7 pm (at least we try to get going around that time but we never do!!) and continues ...until we crown a weekly trivia expert. In addition, we have a nightly Sports Quiz question anyone who comes in that night can randomly select a question and if you guess correctly, your second drink is half-off! We would really like to see more of the Men’s Golf League participants in here so guys since your golf has been cancelled for tonight, please join in the fun!! JERRY ZERRILLO MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT: The tourney was canceled last weekend due to the deluge of rain that we’ve been receiving lately!! The tournament has been re-scheduled to this Sunday, July 5thth at the Greens at Beaumont, 9:30 am shotgun start. Food, door prizes, etc. will follow down at the Club. As always, if you aren’t golfing that day but would like to stop down for a couple, please do!! GOOD LUCK to all of our golfers that will be attending the American Turners National Golf Tournament in Clinton, MA next week! Should be a great event with our friends in Clinton. Safe travels and make us proud!!! Hit 'em long and STRAIGHT!
