Honeybees build their comb out of small chips of wax produced by glands on the underside of their abdomen. They chew the small flakes with their mandibles and work them into thin sheets to build the comb. With a backlight, you can see the hexagonal structure of the comb through the thin dividing wall in the center. #beekeeping #bees #beeswax @nystateparks
