The Tai-Zen Academy of Self-Defense is currently in the process of reopening both of our locations, by putting into motion all safety protocols required by NY State, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Rest assured that we take your health and safety as our primary concern, and will make every effort to abide by CDC and NY State guidelines. We would also like to thank you for your support during this difficult time.

I hope you are all doing well! We are not there yet, but we are in the process of reopening the Dojo in Selden and Bellmore. If anyone has an old Focus Master that they are not using and would like to donate it to the school, please email me at [email protected] Thank you! -Hanshi Meyer

Posted on behalf of Master Howard Tague: "The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted all of our lives in many ways, including our ability to recommence our practice. The NY State Governor has mandated that indoor practice is prohibited, which severely limits our ability to practice our studies in the manner to which we do. I am hopeful that the restrictions will be lifted sooner rather than later, however there is no timeline currently in place for those restrictions to be lifted. ...I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to everyone that has been able to help out the school during this difficult period. Without your support we would be in a precarious position, and again it is very much appreciated. I am looking forward to the day that we can meet again, and I wish you and your families good health and wellbeing during this difficult time. -Master Tague"

Dear Tai-Zen family members: Due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, Governor Cuomo has mandated that all non-essential businesses temporarily close. In response to this mandate, all classes at the Selden and Bellmore Dojos will be immediately suspended. Once Governor Cuomo lifts the mandate for business closures we will reopen. If you or anyone you know has been exposed to the virus, or has any symptoms, please contact the Coronavirus drive-through testing sites at St...ony Brook University and Jones Beach, call 1-888-364-3065. (Questions will be asked to detrmine eligibilty.) Also please take the recommended steps to self quarantine and let us know. Stay safe, take care of yourselves and your families, and we'll see you soon. -Kyoshi Romeo

Now that the school year has started, there is no better time then now to give your children the tools that they may need in order to protect themselves from the threat of school bullies and adult predators. Though we would always like to be there to protect our children, there are times when they will be alone, and the only protection they will have is their own. We offer effective self-protection skills for children and adults. For more information, contact the Tai-Zen Academy of Self-Defense at one of our locations, in Nassau or Suffolk County. http://www.tai-zen.org

Our new Nassau County headquarters is complete (and more conveniently located) ! Located at 2312 Bellmore Avenue, Bellmore the school is close to Wantagh Parkway and Sunrise Highway. After weeks of demolition and then construction, we are operating a full class schedule - see full class schedule at www.tai-zen.org ... Many thanks to Chief Grandmaster Tague for his design and installation of the workout floor. In addition, my sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who was able to contribute time, sweat, finances and spirit in accomplishing this task. If you have been away for a while, this is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with Tai-Zen and the Tai-Zen family. Looking forward to seeing all of you, Kyoshi Romeo

Don’t be a victim of violence or harassment. The Tai-Zen Academy of Self-Defense will give you the tools that you need to defend yourself from an attacker. According to the most recent Federal Bureau of Investigation’s crime statistics:... In 2013, an estimated 1,163,146 violent crimes occurred nationwide Don’t be a statistic. There is no better time to start or restart your training then the present. Remember that it’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
