Tammy's Candy Kettle

As many of you know, we lost a great man Sunday evening, my Dad. I posted one of my favorite photos below of me and my Dad. I was born on his birthday and in ...the below photo I was turning 2 yrs old. The smile on both of our faces is priceless. It is hard to summarize what this man meant to me. He worked his fingers to the bone his entire life for his family, he was the most caring loving human being and I was blessed to be one of his children. He loved my mother dearly and always said she was his one true love. He built her our family home alone by hand. The endless card games at the kitchen table I will hold dearly in my heart. He almost always cheated at cards just to see which one of us could catch him and to make us all laugh. His infectious laugh every time he tried to tell a joke but rarely made it to the punch line because he was laughing so hard. I am grateful to my husband who always got me home to my parents because he understood the importance of my family to me. My father loved Charlie as if he was his own and he never hesitated to tell him. I am grateful that Charlie and I were able to sit by his bed and hold his hand for the last 3 days of his life. He knew we were there, and was able to smile and wink at me once to let me know. Although not always easy to leave our business, we never missed a holiday or birthday. One time we got there and I ran around and kissed the walls at Dads house, he said "what are you doing" , I started to cry and said I am just so happy to be home with you. We spoke a couple of times each day every day. Now my phone is quiet and my heart aches in disbelief. The only solace that I have is that I continually told you how much I loved you, that you were my hero and thanked you for such a wonderful life. I always hugged you goodbye like it might be our last. These words only touch upon what I would like to say but I am trying to refrain. I will continue to work hard and be kind to people. I pray that I ended up to be something that you and mom are proud of. Love your little girl Tammy Lee and her loving husband Charlie. See more
