This #teammembertuesday we want to recognize a very special team member who will be retiring after 41 years with our familyDennis Guerra. I began my employment with Tandy Leather Company on Feb. 1, 1979, in El Paso, Texas and then managed stores in Santa Fe, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, and Austin, TX. After 37 years in the stores, I accepted a position training our store associations to use all the products we sell. After cutting back into semi-retirement, I went back into the... stores at TLC186 in South Austin. My forty-one-year association with Tandy Leather has been enjoyable and rewarding in so many ways. The relationships I developed with those I worked for and with over the years are very dear to me. The experiences I had are the source of so many great memories. The opportunities I had were the best part of those years. I was able to learn a craft I love and to share that craft by teaching hundreds of people over the last four decades, both in and out of Tandy Leather stores. My wishes are that Tandy Leather continues to be the world leader in leathercrafting for many years to come. I will miss my association with this truly fine company

This #teammembertuesday we are featuring work by our Store Manager, Tucker Sullivan, of Tandy Leather in Bossier City. I had the idea to make my own suit of armor after I found the tutorial series produced by Prince Armory. The entire suite is made out of 7/9 oz. leather from our local Tandy store. In the tutorials, rivets were used to construct the armor, but I decided to use screw posts for ease of installation and future repairs. I also used Fiebing's Pro Dye in Mahogany ...and Black on this suit. The suit weighs around 25 pounds in total and is incredibly mobile when worn. This project was well worth the journey, not to mention the culmination of over a hundred hours of labor. The skills learned will be put to use in plenty of future projects and classes taught in the Bossier City store. -Tucker Sullivan.
