Have you heard the exciting news? The Foundry's advanced manufacturing program continues learning online! Watch the video and hear an update from a student! The... Foundry offers an advanced manufacturing workforce development program in collaboration with The Service Collaborative of WNY's YouthBuild Wny program and Buffalo Niagara Partnership. This program pairs with training needs identified by local partners such as Tapecon Inc., PCB Piezotronics, Zehnder Rittling and Rigidized Metals Corporation. A group of students from WNY YouthBuild and our makerspace community enrolled in early February to begin the 5 month program. During Covid-19, staff members Deb Sarlin and Amina Boyd have worked hard to make sure the program can continue online. They have spent hours collecting maker resources and industry trainings to post online for our students. They are connecting with students through online classroom sessions and pairing it with interactive assignments, readings, quizzes and videos that the students review, write about, and discuss as they learn new skills. Students will graduate in June/July with the hope of securing employment at local manufacturing companies!

#ManufacturingMonday Listen to an update from our Executive Director Megan McNally about how our Advanced Manufacturing Training Continues Learning Remotely! Fu...nded with a MaTCH award from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Foundry staff members Deb Sarlin and Amina Boyd have worked tirelessly to ensure our Advanced Manufacturing workforce development program can continue through the Covid-19 pandemic as an online program. With tools on site from local industry partners such as Tapecon Inc., and workflows aligned with companies in our Buffalo network including Zehnder Rittling, PCB Piezotronics and Rigidized Metals Corporation, a group of students from The Service Collaborative of WNY's YouthBuild Wny program and from our makerspace community joined us in early February to secure both hands-on techniques and computer assisted design strategies. These are skills needed by workers entering new and emerging positions in manufacturing jobs in Buffalo. In the coming weeks, we will share some photos and videos of the students talking about what they've been learning while at home. Stay tuned!
