"The Trial of the Chicago 7," released on Netflix in October, is based on actual dialogue from the trial. The court reporter’s transcriptions total 22,302 pages. A half-century ago, Yorktown resident Mark Levine and his friends read every single one of them, editing them down to a book. It’s a moment in history that a lot of people alive today don’t know about or didn’t know about before the movie came out.

***Santa Day 2020*** Mark your calendars folks! Santa Claus is coming to Yorktown Sunday December 13th, 2020! ... This year the CDC has deemed Santa as part of the High Risk population so due to COVID-19 restrictions our Santa Day has been slightly modified for safety reasons. We will still be using the same three routes that we have used in past years. See the link below for Route locations and times. (Please note that all times are approximate) Due to COVID-19, Santa and his elves at the YHFD will not be exiting our fire apparatus. Rather, we will be converting this years Santa day candy cane run into a modified Santa day parade. Additional rules that have been changed this year for safety reasons are as follows: Sadly, we will not be handing out candy canes this year at stops during our routes for safety reasons. We strongly discourage large groups from gathering at stops. Some examples of ways to safely distance is to remain in your vehicle or stay in your driveway and wave as Santa drives by. We will be entering individual Cul-De-Sacs this year to discourage large groups from gathering so please bare with us as this will take extra time along our routes. Our music cars that travel ahead of Santa will be respectfully asking any large groups waiting at intersections for Santa to disperse and socially distance for safety reasons. When safely possible to do so. If you’d like to take a picture with Santa and his elves you can do so by standing in front of our fire apparatus while Santa waves from inside the fire apparatus. (Santa will not be exiting the vehicle) We will not be entering nursing homes, group homes, houses or worship, locations where large public gatherings are taking place or individual homes this year. Sadly, Santa will not be accepting any home baked goods this year for safety reasons. We have reduced the number of firefighters that will be assisting Santa in our fire apparatus this year and as always all of our firefighters and Santa will be required to wear face coverings. During our breaks, all of our apparatus will be sanitized for safety reasons as crews swap out. All route times are approximate, we are trying to ensure we safely bring the holiday spirit and smiles to everyone’s faces (under their masks of course ) throughout the Yorktown Heights Fire District by driving down more individual streets. Please be aware that all of our apparatus are still in service to respond to alarms. Should Santa not arrive on time, please be patient as he his assisting fire crews with responding to emergencies around town. Please subscribe to our Facebook page for up to date information regarding alarms that day, and Santa's progress. https://yorktownfire.org/news/518/2020-Santa-Day-Run- Town of Yorktown Yorktown Police Department Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc.
