Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow Neighborhood House 13.12.2020

On August 3rd, students from the EF International School came down and spent the afternoon with our Senior Artists Workshop. The students learned about the artwork and its inspiration while and our members really enjoyed learning about the diverse group of young people. We look forward to more opportunities to have both generations spend time together learning and appreciating each other.

EF Students visit the Senior Art Workshop at the Neighborhood House 8/3/16. Both the students and Art members really enjoyed time getting to learn about each other. Students asked questions about the artwork and inspiration for certain pieces while our members learned about the diverse backgrounds of the EF students.

The Neighborhood House in Tarrytown, NY was awarded a $1,000 Arts Alive Project Grant that was made possible through the ArtsWestchester organization and the NYSCA, New York State Council on the Arts. We were honored to be one of the award recipients at a recent Arts Westchester awards ceremony attended by New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti. The Senior Art Workshop group led by Neighborhood House Art Instructor, Christina Blatt are ex...cited to be working on a large canvas mural of Washington Irving’s home, Sunnyside in a project called Seniors Painting for Seniors. This will be a traveling mural set to have a kick-off reception at the Neighborhood House fall 2015. This creative project will be on display for all to enjoy at local nursing/assisted living facilities, libraries and other public venues. Arts Alive Project Grants are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program (DEC), a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature, and administered by ArtsWestchester.
