We haven't posted in awhile, mainly because we've besn so busy, but some projects are too special not to post. Great little segment by the Norton Museum of Art on our treatment of Diana and Actaeon by Paul Manship. The works, which are cast of Nickel Bronze, had previously been left to oxidize and started to present as almost traditional statuary green and brown. This video highlights the removal of the corrosiion and prior treatments to display the underlying silver-esq finish which was intended.

Before (left) and After (right) of Paul Manship’s Venus Anadyomene from a private collection. The piece came to us covered with a dark lacquer coating which was applied to mask numerous patina blemishes. This coating started to wear unevenly and became unsightly, so it was removed completely and the blemishes were addressed at the source with isolated repatination and chemical blending. A pigmented microcrystalline wax was applied to harmonize the piece and brought the whole thing together. It’s really special when a client tells you they appreciate the hard work we put into our projects. It makes it all worth it. Happy Friday everyone! @ Tatti Art Conservation

Summer is finally here! First order of business is the maintenance of the beautifully artistic doors at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue. Once cleaned, the doors are given a special hot wax treatment to keep them safe for the next year. #stpatrickscathedral #architecturalrestoration #sculpturedoctor #conservation @ St. Patrick's Cathedral

Last month, Nick Tatti had the honor of speaking at The Norton Museum’s Whitney’s Sculpture in Context symposium which highlighted Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney as a prominent American sculptor. A big thank you to The Norton Museum for entrusting your work with us and a huge congratulations to Ellen Roberts, Carol Clark, Avis Berman, and Jennifer Wingate for creating such a memorable exhibition and engaging discussion! Wonderful to see a project continue to evolve as signage was introduced in front of the Grand Central Stones in Van Cortland Park!

Polishing, when done correctly, can yield some of the greatest returns on invest in terms of protection and aesthetic turnaround. It also happens to be extremely therapeutic. Brancusi’s Golden Bird gets its shine on with a little help from Renata. #brancusi #goldenbird #polish #shiny #conservation #restoration #sculpturedoctor
