We just delivered 9 painted pumpkins to the Fairport Baptist Home for their residents Normally, we would partner with these seniors to carve their designs but with current visiting restrictions we couldn't We hope that they enjoy our artwork and feel the Halloween spirit even though we couldn't get together Happy Halloween!

We picked a picture perfect day to clean up our adopted stretch of route 250 in Fairport. Team members and mentors picked up two bags of trash along the side of the road from Brooks Hill to Starbucks. The weather was amazing and we loved helping our community!

What a picture perfect day; sunshine, cooler weather & STEM kits! We are partnering with RMSC to promote engineering and creativity today by handing out activity kits we made. Stop by the museum by 12:30 to get a kit for your elementary students! They are FREE! Thank you RMSC for this great opportunity

This week, we partnered with our district, Fairport Central School District, to distribute STEM kits to K-5 students at four lunch distribution sites around our community. We were able to hand out over 250 STEM activity kits to kids to encourage hands-on learning during the school closure. This fun activity will enhance the virtual classroom learning that is already taking place!

Want to celebrate the Class of 2020? Order a Chalk Raider today! We are able to offer this annual fundraiser in a safe, contact-free way. One team member and their parent will be acting as our spray teams and will be using all of the necessary PPE while they are filling orders. Chalk Raider orders will be accepted until Tuesday, June 30th and will be fulfilled before graduation in July. The paint will last on your driveway for approx. 6 months so you can order early a...nd it will still look terrific for your graduation celebrations in July! On this beautiful day we connected with Jenny, Fairport alum '10, who is a surgical ICU nurse at the University of Rochester Medical Center. We donated 85 mask extenders to her and all of the nurses in her unit. These extenders will help to make face masks more comfortable as they work through their shifts. She and her colleagues are working in the Highly Infectious Disease Unit taking care of COVID+ patients who require ICU level treatment. We are so happy to help make their work a little more comfortable! Way to go Lilibeth and all team members!

Team 578 would like to share some ideas of how you can help your community and front line workers. Our newly elected VP of Outreach, Lilibeth, has posted a challenge to the teachers in our district and Red Raider Robotics is extending this challenge to the robotics community and beyond. We are calling on you to use your talents to create mask extenders to help healthcare workers and first responders who must wear masks for extended periods of time. Here are some mask extender... options: 1. Knit or crochet - Lilibeth has created a video with step-by-step instructions: https://youtu.be/qcBnViSRmjg We delivered these extenders to Fairport Police Department and Perinton Ambulance this morning. Every member of these amazing organizations can wear their masks in comfort! 2. Sew a mask - Jake & Johnny's family made 150+ delivered to Foodlink. 3. 3D print an extender if you have a printer. Two team members have been printing them. Senior & outgoing VP of Engineering, Aydan, delivered 50 to his co-workers at Fairport Baptist Homes recently. What do you do with an idle 3D printer . . . make shields for health care workers! Two of our amazing team members, Leo & Sam, worked on creating and assembling 50 face shields for Rochester Regional Health. They were delivered late last week and we were more than happy to help out! Of course, they had to get a test run before we delivered them

Recently Fairport High School and the PTSA purchased and delivered these amazing signs to all members of the Class of 2020! We send out our congratulations to the FHS seniors as well as to all FRC seniors across the world! We would like to acknowledge our Team 578 seniors who have a collective of 56 years of experience in FIRST programs! Their commitment, dedication and passion for STEM, "GP" and robots will be felt for many years after they graduate in June. We will miss them but their legacy will live on. We love our 578 Seniors - Dan, Hannah, Rachel, Collin, Sophia, Kyle, Colin, Stephen, Johnny, Lily, Aydan, & Meredith.

So, it's been a while since we have had a chance to get together to have a meeting. Tonight, WE DID! It was so good to see our Flagship team members and coaches to discuss the season, lessons learned as well as action items moving forward.
