The Made in America order ensures that American tax dollars are going back into the pockets of hardworking American families. Teamsters around the US made this happen by electing Joe Biden this is a win for workers driven by America’s strongest union.
For the Teamsters Union, black history isn’t just an add on to our story or a recognition of advancements. It is part of the core of our history. Black and white Teamsters rallied together after the Civil War to improve conditions, starting the first independent team driver locals.
Thank you to all the Teamsters and other union members on the job today to get us through this storm

Essential workers who survived the first wave of Covid-19 rallied today urging state leaders to pass legislation that will keep workers safe as Covid-19 rates are spiking and lockdowns are being reinstated across parts of New York. The legislation, known as the NY HERO Act, would mandate the Departments of Labor and Health to implement enforceable safety standards in workplaces and establish worker safety committees to monitor and report compliance.
These are the leaders we need in Washington and Albany to fight for working families and get us through the pandemic and recession, said George Miranda, President of Teamsters Joint Council 16. Teamsters will be turning out in big numbers across New York and across the country in this historic election to get our candidates elected to office.
Teamsters in 1917: "Equal pay for equal work should become a constant, vigorous slogan among all workers in all crafts."
"Who are the experts when it comes to safety? It’s the workers. Workers are sounding the alarm on COVID-19 safety and we need to listen to them this time. We need to pass the NY HERO Act to ensure every worker gets masks, gloves, and sanitary conditions." - George Miranda, President, Teamsters Joint Council 16.
Teamsters are rallying in Manhattan with the NY HERO coalition right now to demand state legislation to protect workers from COVID-19!
No boss is going to give you a union. You have to fight for it.

Wow, shame on Bill Gates and Republic Services. Workers' safety during this pandemic needs to come before boosting your profits.
Who knew scabs would scab for free? Latest from RWDSU and the Housing Workers union organizing campaign: "For the past week Housing Works has been testing a 'community run' business model at what they are calling a 'Housing Works Outpost' in Park Slope, Brooklyn. They are running the location by relying on unpaid volunteers, which is allowing Housing Works to not rehire laid off workers, many of which were part of the Housing Works Union organizing efforts."
You may have heard people say, domestic violence is a personal matter, it’s none of my business or that’s between a husband and wife." These attitudes further isolate people experiencing domestic violence creating a barrier between the victim and those who may be in a position to provide valuable support and assistance. The Teamsters Women's Conference held a webinar that you can watch here about how to recognize victims of violence and ways to assist them. The workplace can play an important role between people experiencing violence of any kind and assisting individuals to get the necessary help.
After 9/11, Steve Buscemi quietly returned to the FDNY to lend a hand. This wasn’t known until 12 years later when Brotherhood of Fire shared it on Facebook.
Today, 9/11, we again remember the lives lost from our DSNY family and we pay solemn tribute once again. Our Workers were exposed to hazardous materials during the cleanup. Watch our video, also shown in our garages across the city, where we #NeverForget911: https://youtu.be/Q6Wjn9iXTS4
We are proud to endorse a candidate for DA who has prosecuted employers who stole workers wages or were responsible for workplace deaths. Diana Florence is our candidate for Manhattan DA.
