On this day in history, 3 December 1889, Nikola Tesla received five patents related to his electro-magnetic motor. Also known as the induction motor, this Tesla invention electrified the world (literally) and is the technology behind the alternating current electrical system that powers our lives, every day. The five December 3rd patents were improvements and modifications to his original electro-magnetic motor patents of 1 May 1888.
