The Good Coffee House 06.11.2020

The Woody Guthrie Brooklyn Hoot is a two-hour round robin songfest featuring the songs that Woody Guthrie sang. Performers include Joel Landy, Mike Lee, Nancy Moccaldi, Pinetree, Anne Price, and Steve Suffet. Each is an established artist in his or her own right, and all are longtime Woody Guthrie admirers. The Good Coffeehouse Presents: JAN CHRISTENSEN Sunday Febuary 2, 2020 Concert time: 4 to 6 pm $10.00 at the door... JAN CHRISTENSEN Jan Christensen is a singer and songwriter whose songs reflect his connections to the Port of New York, the Hudson River Valley, and the ocean. Jan’s love of history is reflected in his original compositions and the traditional songs and tunes by friends and fellow songwriters he weaves through his performances. His best-known songs are The Ghosts of Ellis Island, celebrating the millions of immigrants from all over who made our country the special place it is; and Rumrunner (The Saga of Bill McCoy), about one of the early heroes of Prohibition. Jan is a long-time member of The Hudson River Sloop Singers, a group founded by Pete Seeger from musicians he’d sailed and sung with up and down the Hudson River in support of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, and has performed at festivals and events, including the Hudson River Revival. He also sings with The New York Packet, the official maritime music group of South Street Seaport Museum, and Harbortown, featuring friend Bob Wright’s songs of New Yo

Comprised of three exceptionally musically gifted bluegrass and old time country veterans, Gene Yellin (guitar), Bill Christophersen (fiddle), and Mark Farrell (mandolin), the band derives its repertoire from the lesser known material of bluegrass pioneers such as the Sauceman Brothers, as well as the Stanley Brothers and Jimmy Martin.
