It's a great day to remember that we need five positive thoughts, comments or actions to balance out just ONE negative one! How do you plan on being more positive in the future?

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to find their purpose while others don't? When we look at commitment (hard work) and meaning (our personal goals and WHY we do what we do), an interesting thing happens. We start to see why we're tired, why we feel empty, why the perfect job doesn't feel so perfect any more. We see ourselves grinding (tons of hard work, but little meaning), dreaming (lots of meaning, but low commitment to doing the hard work) or drifting (low com...mitment and low meaning). You can choose to stay, find something else - or choose to change your perspective. That's what coaching is all about. Working to clearly see your best path to a purposeful, fulfilling and successful life. #success #motivation #life #happiness
"Holding Hope" became my mantra several years ago when life seemed less than idyllic. With all that is happening in our world, Holding Hope may be what we all need. What does it mean? To me, holding hope means:... Positive good things can happen, even if they haven't happened yet. Nothing is permanent. When someone else gets knocked down, we stand beside them, believing and knowing that they can get back up. When all seems lost, we believe in a better world. When someone else seems like they have lost hope, we carry it for them - believing in their brighter future. We believe. We love. We remain positive. We hold on. We move forward. Most importantly, holding hope also means we act - calmly and positively - following a path towards a better future. Psychologist and author Rick Smith defines hope as the combination of will power and way power... the ability to continue to strive for our goals and the knowledge or path we need to take to reach those goals. I have the will, and I truly believe that the way is found when we are focusing on the end goal - a "more perfect union" as the preamble to the Constitution says. These days, I hold hope for a better world, a brighter future and a more peaceful existence. And I hold hope that you will hold hope as well.
It seems pretty simple, doesn't it... Find five positives for every negative. It's simple, but it's not always easy. The reason this is our first goal for 2021 is simple. Our brains are hardwired for negativity. Without our knowing, our brains will undermine our success, stop us from seeing our own potential and make even the best tasks seem like drudgery. And all of that leads us directly AWAY from success. The reality is that 5:1 positivity is probably one of the HARD...EST goals for some of us to achieve. It takes constant effort to believe in ourselves, to see the good in chaos, to find opportunity in doing the same boring tasks repeatedly. And, when we do it, we find some amazing results! I have a wonderful client who has incredible skills and great training. Everyone who knows them knows how skillful, smart and knowledgeable they are. Instead of seeing it, they focused on what was wrong... and nothing changed. When they shifted their attention to what was working, amazing things happened! Shift your perspective, search for the positive (not the Pollyann-ish positive, but the deep, resounding truth) and live it every day. Bring that attitude to work, to your relationships and most importantly to how you talk to yourself. Amazing things will happen. #coaching #bestlife #motivation #positivity
