Dear club members, the social distancing order has been extended until April 30th (and likely into May since April looks like it will be rough). That means that the LGBT Center will be closed through the end of April and we will not be able to meet. This has given me the idea to do a virtual opera club meeting on Facebook. March the theme was "Seduced and Abandoned" and I think we will post selections here that we might have played at the club had fate not intervened. I ...am going to start the ball rolling with a few selections: Magda Olivero singing "Dio Pietoso" from Alfano's "Risurrezione" based on Tolstoy. Peasant girl Katiusha has been impregnated and abandoned by her aristocratic master. She tries to plead with him at the train station but sees him with his wealthy fiancée and crumples to the ground. Please let me know how you feel about this now and how you feel going forward.. Would you be interested in having make up meetings over the summer? Do you have any other suggestions?
