This season, more than ever 'gone fishing' has a whole new meaning --- that of attending music lessons and performance events with your offspring(s)! It is such a joy to see so many of you, fathers become an integral part of your child(ren)'s music education at our Academy--- thank you for your support to your children's and their teachers' efforts! Enjoy the art of 'musical carpentry & masonry' through children's creative Musicianship Class Composition Projects videos which were streamed on June 12 and are awaiting you in your email boxes. Joyful Father's Day to all VSA Dads!

Ou first ever exclusively pre-recorded streamed event is happening this coming Saturday, June 12 at our Virtual Concert Hall. Its goal is to create a forum for presentation of the Musicianship Classes composition projects (based on the concepts studied this season) created, performed and recorded by the class members, as well as to proivide an opportunity for Solo Instrumentalists who (for one reason or the other) did not perform in any one of our nine (9) performance events this season. Here is a little sneak preview at the students' compositions---what bottomless creativity on the part of the students and their teacher---bravi to all! "Meet the Dot" (MUS 1) "Springtime Roses" (MUS 2) "Duet in a-minor" (MUS 3) "Quartet Jig" (MUS 4)

The NY Young Musicians' Ensemble is inviting all current VSA students, VSA alumni and string players-friends (NYSSMA Level 4/Suzuki Book 4 and up) to participate at the "Open Orchestra Project" in the informal reading of an American composer, Aaron Copland's, Hoe Down" from Rodeo this Saturday, 06/12 at 2:30-3:00 PM (2:20 PM arrival for tuning) at the outdoor Concert Tent, 22 Jericho Turnpike, Mineola. "Hoe Down" has a symbolic value for us as it was the very last piece we... started rehearsing before the lockdown last Spring 2020 which forced us to move on-line. And so we would like to commemorate our resistance and perseverance as a music community this season, by revisiting this uplifting and root searching music---an ideal piece of American music to serve as a prelude to the upcoming 4th of July Independence celebrations! Please, RSVP if you wish to join us and receive the part prior to: [email protected]. See you all there! See more

Way to go Lily! Let’s tally: Saturday three pieces: Bach’s Minuet in G-Major, Bach’s Gavotte in g-minor and Vivaldi’s Concerto in a-minor, all three performed with friends from the Violin Group, who rehearsed remotely only this seasona performance prepared on only two live piano rehearsals and possible due to the players’ determination and the fact, that the group plays together for the past five years :-). On Sunday solo piano piece by one of Bach’s and Vivaldi‘s guests: Mr. Kimberger’s Prelude. And did I forget to mention that Lily will not only be presenting her Musicianship Class group composition, but also performing another piano solo: Chopin’s Polonaise at our exclusively pre-recorded streaming on June 12 Last Call Stream Show children are fearless and their learning capacity is clearly bottomless!

Twenty nine (29) of the VSA instrumentalists of all ages joined forces in a Group and Ensemble Part 1 of an over three (3) hours celebration of music which took place on the weekend of May 22-23, 2021 at the "Grand Bach, Vivaldi and Friends Fest" consisting exclusively of music by Antonio Vivaldi, although many 'friends' such as: S.Suzuki, G.P.Telemann, J. Haydn compositions were invited. Performance started with the Cello Group ("Twinkle" Graduate Class of '21) fortified by ...their older peers: Cody, Dora and Kaylie, followed by the Violin Group Book 1, and exclusively remotely only rehearsing Violin Group Book 4 (all its memebers are the recipients of an 'outstanding' 28/28 score points on this season's NYSSMA exams:-) with a joint project between both groups consisting of created by the players baroque ornamentation, continued with groups of four: "String Chamber Ensemble" and "Jericho Quartet" and commenced with our prime group, the " NY Young Musicians' Ensemble" which provided a sensitive accompaniment not only to their own ensemble members (each member took a turn in performing a solo), but also to our very young 'guest soloists': Emma, Alyssa, Catherine and Mika. And what a thrilling experience it was for these youngsters to be able to play alongside their much older colleagues who as they said: "can play sooooo many notes":-) F.Mendelssohn's who 'resurrected' the forgotten for some decades music of J.S.Bach, youthful "Sinfonia in D" performed brilliantly by the NY Young Musicians' Ensemble closed this Day 1 of the Festival's performances.
