The Alexia is pleased to announce that Cornell Watson of Durham, North Carolina, is the recipient of the $20,000 professional grant for Behind the Mask. The Student Grant recipient is Leonidas Enetanya of the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle Washington for The Monet Archives. He will receive a fellowship for tuition and fees to enroll in three courses during a semester at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, a $1000 cash grant and he will serve as the rese...arch assistant to The Alexia director, a paid position The second and third place honorees for the professional grant are Amber Bracken of Edmonton, Canada for Generations, and Isadora Kosofsky for "Permanent and Known." The second and third place honorees for the student grant are Zilan Imsik of Istanbul University for Where is Home?, and Michele Abercrombie of Syracuse University for we live(d) in our heads. Judges Joshua Rashaad McFadden Noelle Flores Théard and Laylah Amatullah Barrayn have chosen the professional winner for The Alexia 2020 Grants. 2nd and 3rd place winners were also named. We will announce the 20 finalists that were considered in today's judging on our blog on Wednesday. We will announce the winners on Nov. 17.
