The austin school students started to learn this new way of looking at the way we would study martial arts in 68. There was no name given to it at the time. It’s training was restricted to purple belts up. During this time the name Jaribu was designated. We were a student body that was steeped in kumite and hand to hand combat. Every night those things were on the agenda! The combat work was always close quarters. Up to this point in time we focused on Chung do Kwan technique. Over the following five years we evolved with joint locks angular entries, nerve strikes and suchDr-Hakim Bey-Allah our sensei although he missed this era has the commitment to keep the flame lit with students like Todd Hunter and Arthur Russell
