The Bee's Knees

At the end of this month, after almost 10 years in business, we will be closing the doors of The Bee’s Knees. This has been a very difficult decision, and although we are looking forward to whatever comes next, it is heartbreaking to say goodbye. From Amanda: I feel so lucky and proud to have been in business for this long and to have been a part of your families in such a special way. I do wish I could see you all and say a proper goodbye. When our paths cross again, you c...an be sure I will ask how your babies and grand babies are doing! We are selling our beautiful custom front counter and end shelving, made for us with lots of love, not to mention top quality materials and craftsmanship, by the great Hopper Cabinet Co. in Old Chatham. We also have a few tables and shelves for sale. If you are or someone you know is interested please email [email protected] - the sooner the better, although if you can commit to buying but can’t physically acquire right now, we can store a piece for you for a month or two in a storage unit. We have lots of free donations ( display items, toys, books, other random things that one collects after this long in business) that we would love to see end up in loving hands rather than the garbage. We will be putting stuff out in front of the store starting today until next weekend. Please come take a look.... pass it on! We love you, we will miss you and we thank you for the decade of support. The community and connections that were formed here will last a lifetime in our hearts. The Bee’s Knees statement regarding COVID-19 It is no secret that we are all facing something we have never faced before. As small business owners, we have bills and obligations that can only be handled by having our doors open and selling products. We are, however, not just business owners; we are also parents, members of families containing immune-compromise, respiratorily-sensitive and elderly people, and we’re members of a community doing its best to keep at bay a rap...idly spreading infectious disease, COVID-19. In light of all of this, and with the safety of our staff and family members in mind, we have made the extremely difficult decision to close our doors temporarily. This is also in an effort to do our part to try to flatten the curve. (to read more about this concept, see here: https://www.npr.org//flattening-a-pandemics-curve-why-stay) While we fully know this is the right thing to do to help keep ourselves and our beloved community healthy, it also means we will be taking a huge financial hit. It is no exaggeration to say that we have not even generated enough income yet in March to pay April’s rent. We don’t have an online shop to continue to generate income, but we are very willing and ready to work with you remotely to help pick the right products and get them promptly shipped out to you or a loved one. We have always made great customer service a priority, and we will figure out how to safely fill these requests. No one knows how things will develop, or what the future recommendations of agencies such as the CDC and WHO will be, so we will continue to monitor those In the coming days and weeks, and we will keep you posted about our hours at The Bee’s Knees.
