You may have heard in the news about the pit bull that was shot by police early this morning (1/2/21) We have been contacted by the real owner to try to help s...ave Max’s life. The owner was not home when the woman who was renting a room from her became heavily intoxicated and began wrecking the owner’s apartment. Max was in his crate the entire time that the tenant was breaking windows, doors, dishes and even the owner’s mothers urn. He was terrified. When the owner came home they heard what was going on and she called the police. When the police arrived, the tenant then let Max out of his crate and barricaded herself in the closet. She has since been arrested. Max was terrified. He didn’t know where his owner was and there were police officers in his home. Max did go after the one police officer. He did bite him and he was shot in the leg. The bullet shattered his leg and is currently lodged in his chest. The police officer felt terrible about what happened and stayed with the owner while animal control loaded Max into the vehicle to take him to the ER. The officer knew Max wasn’t a bad dog. The owner does not have the funds to get Max the help he needs. The estimate is between $3700 -$5600. The Dr’s took X-rays, gave pain meds, cleaned and dressed his wounds and splinted his badly fractured leg. Max is stable for now We don’t think that Max deserves to suffer for someone else’s mistakes. He was terrified. Max is a family dog. He goes camping with his family, he plays with the children and his friend is a Pug! We are asking for your help to try to help his owner pay to get the surgery needed for his leg and get the bullet removed. We are working together with Diamonds In The Ruff and Hamburg Mutts to see that he gets the care he needs. We will also make sure that Max has a safe home to return to. No dog deserves to suffer.
