The Elements of Nature 26.12.2020

Romancing Nature with Photography: In a time where photography could be called the most popular hobby in the world, it can be difficult to come up with new and ...exciting photographs that can touch the hearts and minds of all that see them. Join Scott Joshua Dere for a lecture on how to make images of nature and wildlife that emit an emotional response from your audiences. During this presentation one will learn how to ascertain how to approach a scene, read the direction of light, as well as use the surrounding elements to aid in the aesthetic value of your photographs. Scott will point your attention to details surrounding your subjects that will be valuable in composing photographs that hold your viewers longer, by engaging your viewers senses and feelings on a more intimate level. Learn how to tell a story using nothing but the surroundings, the backdrops, and the elements that surround your subjects to really make your photographs stand out among the crowd. At just 13 years old, he landed his first photography job as an assistant for a local wedding studio. For the next 17 years, Scott worked with several local Professional Photography Studios and found many different techniques of lighting and visualizing subjects along the way. During this time Scott attended college at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and received a BFA in the Fine Arts of Photography 2001. Since then, Scott Dere opened a Long Island, NY based studio called Art Photographers. The studio is responsible for hundreds of weddings, parties and functions including fine art portraiture and more, across the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut areas each year. Locally, Scott has given Ted Talks in New York on conservation and has recently published a book on photographing Birds of Prey. Despite owning a successful Long Island Professional Photo studio, Scott worked for Canon in Lake Success, NY early in his career and still uses their best equipment to date. However, Scott has field tested Lenses for Sigma and written for their blog and now collaborates and consults with Olympus on OMD products.
