To help celebrate Ellicottville's 200th birthday this summer, we're going to take a look at the early settlers and long-time families of the town. Here's part one of the series!

Both the Steelbound Brewery & Distillery and Ellicottville Distillery have stepped up in the continuing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and modified their production lines to make essential hand sanitizer! We're making a difference right here in Ellicottville!

Great job Nick Pitillo and everyone at Villaggio and Osteria 166 for their amazing work during these trying times! There are great people here in Ellicottville who have each other's backs when they need it most!

Ellicottville Times going on hiatus for a while We’re experiencing trying times, to say the least. For the most part, business and community activities are at a standstill as we focus all our energies on getting through this coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the decision was made that the April 17 weekly edition of the Ellicottville Times be the last edition until these trying times become more clear.... We have plenty of great places to walk to and around in the Ellicottville area just make sure you're at least six feet away from others!

With Ellicottville students stuck at home for at least a month, Coach Jason Marsh is giving them a home workout to stay in shape while staying safe from spreading the coronavirus.

Todd and Shannon Palmatier, along with their three sons, Evan, Brayden and Camden, have been on an urgent mission to help people understand progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC), a rare genetic liver disease that affects both their oldest son, Evan, and youngest son, Camden.

"On behalf of the district, I would like to thank the entire ECS Community on their response to this crisis," said Superintendent Bob Miller. "[T]hey are all doing a great job meeting the challenges head-on."

Although it may be a little different, the Ellicottville Times will continue to publish weekly as a four-page paper. In addition to free individual laydowns in local stores and newsstands, the Times is also being inserted into the Cattaraugus County Pennysaver to reach more households. On March 25, Ellicottville Mayor John Burrell and the Village Board put out a statement on social media urging families seeking to get out of New York City not to come to Ellicottville due to fears they will bring COVID-19 with them.

The building may be closed, but the Ellicottville Memorial Library continues to offer some services to patrons, from eBooks and audiobooks to free Wifi in the parking lot!

School is out for Ellicottville students for at least the next few weeks, but many of them are wishing they could be back at the Home of the Eagles as soon as possible!

If you know Bradley Poole, you know he doesn't give in and doesn't give up, and he's running 266 miles around Cattaraugus County to raise funds and awareness for CF!

The age-old sport of axe throwing is coming to Ellicottville with a new twist. The Ratchet Hatchet will be opening soon at 14 Washington St. where people can experience this hot, new trend.

Although schools are closed for now, students at Ellicottville were doing some great work in recent months. Here are the Honor Rolls lists for the second quarter!

Fresh from their hot-spot in Olean, Amber Rafi-Sultan and her husband, Aamir Sultan, are excited to open Rafi's Platter by Amber, a new Mediterranean-style restaurant in the old Tips Up location!

Despite the change in plans for Mardi Gras and Winter Carnival weekend, the first Town of Ellicottville Bicentennial event of the year is still on for this afternoon and tomorrow!

The ski resort posted on its official Facebook page that the schedule of events has been altered, including canceling the Mardi Gras Parade in downtown Ellicottville and the Costume Parade at Holiday Valley.
